As long as we're not playing, can someone explain the "XP Switch" concept to me?

From what I gather, you can turn off your combat xp. What I don't understand is why you'd want to. Can anyone enlighten me?

I would think you would want to do it so you can continue to get drops from certain monsters.

I'd be interested in that too. For a scout though, if you use your evade ability it seems you don't get xp/loot from the npc. Kinda strange because it seems when i evade I'm still getting nailed :) Must've failed or something.

So let's just say you need crab meat, but crabs are too lowly for you to get xp from. With Combat XP off, they still drop meat, but with Combat XP on they drop nothing?

XP Switch is used to prevent getting too high to do certain things, like the betrayal quest. You can also use it to help a friend catch up -- by you standing still.

I believe it's designed so you can 'wait' for friends to catch up too. I.e. you're three levels ahead of a buddy and you want to group, but you would like to let him catch up

Yes, you can still get items from creatures, even if they don't give you any exp points. You can even get chests. =)

So for harvesting crafting supplies off the bloody corpses of the local wildlife, it doesn't matter whether the XP Switch is on or off. Right?

From personal experience in beta (don't know if it still holds true), mobs that don't give xp will never drop chests. Never seen a single chest from a grey my entire time in beta. Grey mobs do still give normal loot however, ie meat, spit, skin, etc.

Edit: haven't been able to play yet so they may have changed it. Anyone that can post confirmed that greys will drop chests when mob is grey to solo/entire group?

I would very much want a clear answer as to if Trivial Loot Code (TLC) applies... that is if it IS possible to get chests from grey mobs.

TLC was the only reason i couldnt stand pllaying on Firionia Vie on old EQ.
If it is really On for all EQ2 servers...... Sigh
I LOVE doing quests... and it is so annoying that you find out you cant get one because you are to high level... I never saw the point of that... and especially not on a RP server.
My ********* done.... EQ2 is NICE

When a mob drops to gray con (no longer worth experience), chests are no longer supposed to drop, but regular loot will. That's the way it worked in beta, and that's what the Devs have said is how it's supposed to work. If gray mobs are dropping chests right now, it's a bug.
