Can't finish Retrieving Owlbear Eggs QuestFollow

Please help me, i have searched this forum and other foruns to find a way for me to finish this quest.

I know what to do but i cannot activate any of the buttons from the clockwork owlbear.

I'm standing near elder ash owlbears ( the big ones) and i activate the clockwork owlbear but on my hotbar, the 5 hotkeys appear all grey, and i cannot finish the quest and i haven't be able to get a single egg.

Any help ??

But that is really my problem, i do get near the female owlbear but the abilities are blocked, are all grey and i cannot choose any of them

Sorry for the late reply . I haven't got the time to play anything for some days ( lots of work)

Anyway ...

I have them target , i even tried to attack them but in my combat chat what i get only is " cannot see target" and all elder ash owlbears "names" are in red and my options ( 1 through 5 ) are grey'd out.

Any thoughts ???

arghhhh , i'm really stupid ( or is this quest that is broken ...)

These are my steps :
keep targeting those elder ash owlbears ( yes , they are the big ones )
The label above elder ash owlbear is in red ( don't know if it help in any way)
i activate the clockwork owlbear
i target one of the elder ash owlbear
none of the clockwork owlbear functions are active ( from 1 to 5 )
i keep getting in combat chat the message "can't see target"
never able to finish this damn quest

( and about getting in range, does walking all over the elder ash owlbear count as close ???)

about to give up on it

i've done ( for sure ) everything you've told me to do but still nothing !!!!

i'ved tried in several locations and currently i'm in -972.10,52.27,-154.87 but still no go ....

like i said in the begining of this post " I'm really stupid!!!"

Not sure if you're still interested in finishing this quest at this point, but I think I have the answer. The 'elder ash owlbears' are not the right ones. The correct mobs are just called 'ash owlbears'. You just have to find the ones that are larger than the others - those are the females.
