Magic Damge Dealer

My only experience w/ MMORPGs is FFXI, which I played for quite a while. My favorite character/job was the Taru Black Mage. It was the best magic damage dealer, and I'm looking for the equilavent race/class in WOW. Could anyone suggest what that would be? Thx!

mage ya, but they have more utility than the FFXI blm had, mages have teleports and food conjures and the like
