Solo Princess Theradras in Mauradon? Hell yes!Follow

One of the things I love about the warlock class is the immense ability to solo just about anything. If it can be feared, it will die. I've solo'd mobs that were meant for raid groups in the past, which shows just how powerful the class can be.

I was thinking about things to try, and someone in the guild mentioned the Princess in Mauradon. I thought it was a pretty cool idea, and I went along with thoughts along the line of "I'm going to die a horrible death". Strangely enough, I didn't. And I was rewarded with a Gemshard Heart[ http://wow.allakhazam.com/item.html?witem=17707 ] for my troubles - an Item which I had all but given hope up on getting. To show how rubbish the itemisation is in the higher level instances, this necklace can be compared with a Star of Mysteria, which drops on the liveside in Stratholme [ http://wow.allakhazam.com/item.html?witem=12103 ], which often takes a considerable amount of time to do in a 5 man party. Risk vs Reward issues here? Hmm..

2 other Blues dropped, which I vendored for 7g. It came to me that this is a ridiculously good way of making money, possibly on par with SM.

So, I went again. And then again. Since the first try, I've got the time down to 6 minutes from entering Mauradon to the death of the princess, which is quite ridiculous.

Quite a few from my guild didn't believe me, so I loaded up fraps and recorded a run. If people want a copy, I'll try find somewhere to host it.

Regardless, this has pretty major implications for the economy, and people could get rich very quickly with hardly any effort.

Here's hoping Blizzard fixes it soon! :\

They will if people start abusing... and since you've got the word out and are about to put a recording of it on the net, it will start.

After all, they nerfed most of the SM's drop vendor price for that very reason.

I have the video, but I'm not sure about releasing it yet. I sent a GM thingy in about it, and the GM sent me a /tell while I was having a bite to eat, and in the email I was sent it said :

I'm just wondering if releasing a video would be the quickest way to get it fixed or not :o

Well, one thing's for sure is what you're doing isn't 'illegal'. Nobody got banned for farming Doan's Illusionary Rod/Blade.

So keep doing it ;p... get the word out, people will notice and it will get fixed.

I'm pretty sure sending the video is going to be the quickest way to make it get fixed yes... but even then, the fix could be a long time in coming. You see, SM was abused by Rogues, which easily make 20% of the player base. Warlock are a rarity, the problem isn't as urgent I would think.

Is it BoP? I never got the Illusionary Rod so if you farm it to death and sell it i would assume you would be mad rich.

The items are BoP. Some sell for 1g50s, some sell for 4g+.

I've been toying around with mauradon a bit more too. I think a few of the other bosses might be farmable too x.X

Check ouf Landslide

He drop a rather interesting off hand item that a Warlock might find nice.

I know I got the princess necklace (check my profile ^_^) and it does kick major ***.

I don't think it's an exemple of bad loot in stratholme tho, as much as Mauradon just seem to have very kick *** loot for it's level range. Sunken Temple is hardly worth doing after Mauradon, as it's much harder and the drop are hardly any better.

I did try going up to Landslide, but unfortunately, he hits way too hard and is immune to fear :\

About the offhand item - I have a http://wow.allakhazam.com/item.html?witem=15805 which I like to use :o

Goes well with the +11 stamina sword from the EPL cauldron quests & the +11 stamina dagger from the Hakkar questline,

ooh, nice flowah.

Does Landslide hit harder then the Princess? I never really noticed. He die a lot quicker, that's for sure. Altho the lack of fear kitting probably make it a non-issue.

I never even thought of fear kitting the princess, even on the run I did with a Warlock (I must have done over 6 run in Mauradon actually... as everybody wants something from there - got the 3 blue items I wanted, so I'm happy), so she's defenitly beatable without it.

I found the easiest thing to do is to get nature protection potion (I'm an alchemist) and give it to the warrior/rogue. With her fart doing no damage, she's easily defeatable.

I would believe an easy fix would be to make her immune to fear, don't nerf the cost of her gear, as to not cheapen the effort of those who beat her at appropriate level. Beside, it would make sense, she's supposed to be a earth deity... kinda silly she can be feared.

I didn't actually fear her.

www.apby07.dsl.pipex.com/mauradon.zip

I sped it up to 2x, and then checked my mp3 directory, and that song was the closest in length to the video, so I just put it on :P

The quality isn't great since I don't want it using up all my webspace heh.

Can check it at work saddly :(.

Is this something another class could do then? Or do you need a pet (so can hunter do it too?)?

I think any class that can kite effectively could do it.

That means priest/hunter/warlock/mage(?) could prolly do it. I don't know about the other classes though, and I imagine that a mage/priest would take a long time to do as well.

What does kite stand for...?

Kiting/marathoning.

Basically running away from the mob out of melee range so it can't hit you with attacks & abilities, while doing damage to it. Warlocks have a lot of instant cast curses that can be cast while running, so kiting is very easy.

Wow. I just watched that video and it was very impressive. Even though Blizzard will probably consider it exploiting, for the time being I'll stick with calling it really cool. Nice that you actually posted a video; when I first read your post I didn't believe you Smiley: laugh

My warrior and I friend spent a few days farming the Princess.

At 58+, you can run straight to her without aggroing any other mobs.

One time, I got spell-locked by her, and my Warrior died with Princess at 25% health.

I cast my Shadow Word: Pain on her, and ran. And ran some more. And recast Pain. And ran some more. Didn't actually use my fear because she never got within range for me to use it. After a few minutes, I took her down and I was still at 75% life and 50% mana. I was getting enough Mana regen between casts that I could probably solo her all the way, although it would take a long time.

The problem, however, is getting the instance to reset. I've been able to do it a few times by being partied with a different person, but it after two runs it seems to give me the "Your party is not in this instance" message and ports me to Org.

I hate Mauradon. Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice instance with cool drops. But I'm level 60 and I'm still using the Thrash Blade as my main weapon when I use sword and shield, and my two-hander is still Princess Theradras' Scepter.

The only blade I've seen from a higher quest that compares is Hameya's Slayer, and even then it's just a .5 dps increase... even a quest reward for Blackrock Depths doesn't come close.

Maraudon wasn't in at release, it was added in the first content patch.

I think Blizzard purposefully made the drop in it Uber so that even the people that had already hit level 60 and were complaining about content would want to do it.

The same thing will probably happen to Dire Maul, a level 56-60 instance supposes to show up next content patch... my guess is the drop there will make most of Scholo/Strath/BRD look silly.

I would suggest grabbing enchanting and farming the BOP blues for shards, you will make $$$ much faster

I was thinking about that, but engineering is too important (net-o-matic & 34 stamina headpiece), and my tailoring is 300, and I have a stockpile of mooncloth sitting in my bank that needs to be used one day ;x

Lord Feriluce, I agree. The itemisation in Mauradon rules. The loot tables are deep, but full of meaningful items.

I have other videos which show how ridiculously overpowered fear kiting is. I solo'd a dragon in feralas that Mortal Striked me for 4500~ damage (go go warlock HP!) & took over 20 minutes with only curse of doom doing damage. That's over 64000HP.. I hope Blizzard haven't realised how powerful (read: overpowered) Warlock is in PvE :D

Yes, priests can solo her very easily. I can get to her and kill her in <8 minutes. Then disband group and get ported to shadowprey. rinse, repeat. easily 20g an hour.

Real nice video.

And I think a mage could do it, if they were properly specced and had a few pots and such to help them out... It would be a harder fight, but I bet it would work.
