I have not always agreed with Mike on a lot of things, but in this case he was in the right, you were in the wrong.

You wanted to know what zones would give you the most of the essences - well since you only get them from magic items, Mike providing you the chart that said what level range of magic items and of what type dropped things most often.

How was he to know you were such a lame lazy loser that couldn't do the necessary research on your own past that.

I have chosen not to ban the account because a. I don't ban stupid or hostile, b. it is infinitely more fun to let the karma system work as intended and c. if Mike feels that he is being harassed, he knows he can PM me and I will be happy to take out the trash.

Hey OP, I know you'll think I'm just being a smartass, but I've always found the best drop rate for those greens to be off of the AH.

I think you've probably wasted more time arguing over this than actually farming for essences.

This made me smile and nod in agreement.

This thread made me think about the Karma system in general. I think it needs to be overhauled. *ducks the flames* Someone wrote how they had to change their filters becuase the defualt filter hides the "sub-default" entries. I too had to do this, and I haven't regretted it one bit. the entries that get sub-faulted have some of the most entertaining and full of win collections of words that it is downright sad to miss out on them. I would like to see a Karma system where when a post gets rated down beyond a certain point, it switches from "sub-default" to "Seriously?" to "OMG I wet myself!"

With this improved system, you still have the ability to self regulate the forums while highlighting the truly hilarious posts. I think Wordaen said it best:

I say give us a way to highlight stupid and hostile because they are so entertaining.

Edit: Sorry Wordaen, please don't use the banstick. Smiley: grin

/agree

Also, although OhMikeGod was clearly in the right, it seems that even if he wasn't you should cut him some slack...people sometimes give advice that is wrong. Not in this case, but it happens.

Thank you for noticing there GWyn :) I don't post as much here as I'd like, since most of what I do relates to banning, chasing gold selling maggots and fixing busted stuff in the wow database for you all. Which, by the way, I sincerely thank each and every one of you who sends in a submission. It's a huge help.

But every so often, I see something that just screams for a reply from me so there you have it. Oh, and rate up from me there too :)

All I was trying to do in the original thread was gather detail information, maybe save myself some time combing through every critter type in every zone trying to figure out which zones had the most critters that more consistently dropped magic items that were more likely to yield Nether Essence.

From my experience, critters never drop items, save for the frogs in dustwallow for the quest.

I thought mobs dropped the items.

Maybe I read the table wrong.

=) Thanks!

And who could miss that martian avatar? It's a bit...ummm...different, compared to that screaming orc of Tyr's!

I have yet to find a WoW avatar that I really like so I am sticking to my Marvin favorites for now.

I disagree. I feel a "class clown" syndrome would occur if there was a special title given to posts like that. Resulting with an influx in such obnoxious posts I would stop visiting Alla boards all together.

Yes some sub-d's are amusing, however all of them deserve the status they are given.

I'm sure I peed my pants, I'm just not sure if the laughter was the reason.
