not sure if anyone else has had this problem but, installed both Wow and BC but when i went to create char screen blood elf and draenei still won't highlight. now the only to things i can fore c is either 1. BC might have been installed before Wow or 2. wow still might be under 10 day free trail while BC is not. would just uninstalling the game and then reinstalling it work?
It's quite possible. Since your account is under trial, it's not going to recognize you going to a full on version of the account until after the trial period is over. Until then, you'll either have to wait until your trial account is complete, or make a new account.
If you've upgraded from a trial to full, it takes place immediately, it shouldn't wait until the trial is done. It sounds like your BC key isn't registered on your account. Did you use your account page to add and register BC?
Have you upgraded your account from Classic Trial to Classic Retail, and then from Classic Retail to Burning Crusade retail?

I'm not the one who installed the game, just the one stuck with cleaning up the mess. And no we did not upgrade from 10 day trail yet. We had the the trial for 2-3 days, bought the battlechest bundle thing. And now this

There's your problem, then.
As soon you upgrade your account from Classic trial to retail, you can upgrade it to the Burning Crusade. Then you'll be all set and can make a Space Cow or Blood Elf!
Just to reiterate something, though: Upgrading to the Burning Crusade trial is not needed in order to upgrade to the retail version of The Burning Crusade.
