Wow. I wasn't expecting it this soon.

Just checked. No beta invite for me.

Frankly, I don't expect one. I didn't do the Annual Pass.

Post lots of screenshots!

That's what she said! Lololololololol!!!11!1!!!!eleven!1!!!

Ok, sorry. I feel bad just for typing that.

Anywho, I think they've finally realized that at the rate the playerbase eats content, they can't afford to take the amount of time they did for Cataclysm again. Cataclysm was rushed and unpolished out the door, and I think they've worked out how to speed up their development cycle to fix some of those issues.

I did the Annual Pass but still no invite for me yet. I hope it comes soon. Then again, I'm in the process of starting to move house and need to get internet access to my new place still. I better get that setup pronto.

I do not mean to be the bearer of bad news, but I had heard (through tankspot interviews and such) that the folks who did the Annual Pass will be slowly invited. It also sounded as if we (yes, I got the pass too) may only get certain days, times, and even weekends in which we are allowed to play, at least initially.

Please do not take this information as the hard and fast truth, but I am pretty sure there is some truth in it.

So tl;dr... Annual Pass folks might be waiting a while to get beta invites.

Possibly true. The Annual Pass guaranteed entry into beta testing MoP. It didn't guarantee when we'd be invited to the beta testing.

I had heard that how long you've been playing wow, and how quickly you signed up for the annual pass, influenced which wave of beta invites you would be included in. I've been playing a long time, and I signed up for the annual pass the first day it was offered. I'm sure everyone will get a chance.... soon.

I played just a bit before work, killed some mischievous monkeys, and looked around. It's pretty, and typical questing at the start. The Pandas seem... chubby, but you get used to it.

I have been signed up for the anual pass for months, and still no invite as of yet. Hope it comes soon, UNLIKE the free Diablo game.

Very true. The o-boards were full of people complaining how Blizz is failing to uphold their end of the contract with their announcement that the invites would go out in waves instead of all at once to the Annual pass holders. I actually hunted down the terms of service for the offer from back in October and it only says that you are guaranteed the opportunity to participate in the Beta for Mists. It doesn't guarantee that you will gain access the first day Beta is opened and it doesn't say that everyone will be offered invites on the same day.

I haven't seen an invite yet either. I didn't start playing WoW until the summer before BC came out but I know I signed up for the pass soon after it became available.

This annoys me. And I've only played since BC, with an interruption, won't buy an annual pass and have no interest in the beta, so, no self interest speaking. But if you convert WoW's age to dog years, and leave mine in human years, WoW is older than I am. We all know this kind of longevity is unheard of. Blizzard likes to pat themselves on the back for it a lot, and they should, but they really need to be spreading some of that love to people like Bigdaddy who've been loyal for many years. I see this complaint come up a lot wrt to the scroll of resurrection, but I also think it's true generally. For pete's sake, give those people a beta invite. And a mount. And, like, a blood elf cabana boy to feed them grapes when they're feeling peckish.

Nothing here yet, either - I also signed up for the Annual pass.

OTOH, I don't really care much. 32 years in the business have left me very skeptical of betas - especially the early ones. No experience with Blizzard, but too many other buggy betas over the years make me tend to sit back and let someone else provide fee debugging services to a commercial organization.

If that's true, I really hope I get a normal beta invite too. I got a beta invite for Cata, and D3. I don't know if that increases or decreases my chances.
#20 Mar 22 2012 at 2:31 PM Rating: Good
I believe Blizzard tends to invite those who provided meaningful testing feedback in the past, i.e., those who actually do what a beta is meant for instead of just playing the beta so they get to try stuff out early. So if you're a good tester, you're more likely to receive an invite.

This is just guesswork based on what other companies have done, though.

I did for the Cata beta, but for the D3 beta, I didn't do much. Honestly, there hasn't been much TO do.

Thank you for the vote of support, Madam Teacake. I don't know what I would do if I did get a beta invite. I am locked into WoW because of the annual pass, but I have drifted over to SW:TOR at this point and only infrequently log into WoW.

A lot of the stuff I am seeing from MoP makes me think I will shortly be playing 2 MMOs, as much as that seems impossible to pull off.

I don't have the time to dedicate to seriously beta test MoP at this time, so if I get passed over for someone who will actually beta test the game, I am fine with that. It woudl be nice to see the game before launch, though, and know whether I wanted to spend $40 or $50 on it and continue to pay 2 MMO subs.

The last beta I was in was FFXIV. This is not a happy memory.
So, no rush on my part. If it comes, when it comes, that's cool.

Out of curiousity... how many people here who got beta invites are in the US? ...and not on a Mac.

Dammit! Just when you think you are out, they draaaag you back in.

I haven't been playing for about a month as my card bounced the 6 month payment...oops! So to fill the void in between I've been playing Lord of The Rings online for free, kinda fun and somewhat refreshing, but I digress....

I just reactivated now, and with playing since February of 2007 and the annual pass, I'm looking forward to my first beta test. Sad thing is I had been selected for the Cata beta, but never new about until one day I logged into my battle net account and seen it sitting there, long after release.

So now I shall sit in front of the door waiting for my mailed invite to arrive....
