I've played and quit a total of 4 times now. Twice because of time/work, twice because I paid for a LOTRO lifetime sub and wanted to spend my time playing that time would only allow 1 MMORPG. The last time I left it was due to work commitments and was just over a year ago now. My work is now back and I thought of getting back into LOTRO but I just can't get into again and when playing I keep thinking of WoW. I've only ever played with 2 Toons and never managed to get to max level (Pally - 50, Hunter - 40 something). But I've always enjoyed the game. Last time I played though was before Cat came out and I was just wondering if someone could let me know if the game is still as good as the old days (or better). Or if its took a dive. I'm guessing gameplay is the same but I'm more concerned about the community as reading on the forums over at wow.com there seems to be a lot of stuck up kids on it. Just don't want to start a sub and then find out its no longer as friendly as I remember.

Also I'm going to start a new toon and possibly a different server (Dagger something my old ones are on) so if anyone can recommend a fun class and a good PvP server (eu) for me to play on then great :-)

And I'm guessing its still pretty easy to level up. Thats one of the things I enjoyed about coming back before. With my first Toon it took an age to level but with my second, it was levelling rapidly.

Also, is there any good Mods that anyone can recommend. I remember having an Auction house one before but that is all. A good one that would help with levelling too would be grateful :-)

Thanks

Edit - Just found out about the Scroll of Resurrection. I don't really know what the benefits of it are other than that I'm eligible and it lets you get a free upgrade to Cat. So if anyone has a spare on that they can send me let me know and I'll PM you my e-mail (or username or whatever you need). Bonus points for you too as I believe you will get something free? (still reading about it). I'm on the EU servers if its based on region (UK). I've also not activated my account yet as I'm waiting on Blizzard removing my battlenet authenticator as I uninstalled it from my mobile awhile ago!

I think that with Mysts of Pandaria coming out this year, it's a great time to come back. The level 80 boost from Scroll of Resurection will let you jump right in and start questing at 80 (hint: stop by the bulletin board in your major city and pick up the quest to Hyjal). The lower zones have been reworked, so starting from scratch and leveling up is easy as well. You can start a Worgen or Goblin if you like.

I find the social aspect to be the same as it has always been. A lot depends on your friends, or getting into a friendly guild. The random toon on the street could be a jerk. It is what you make of it. I'm not EU, but I'm sure one of our EU posters can get you a scroll.

I've decided I am coming back now. Downloading the client just now (8GB! Glad I have a 50mb connection lol). Might not be on everyday due to work and different things but will try and get on as much as I can. Sunday will probably be my main day though if I can stomach it after the heavy drinking session on the Saturdays! lol.

If you aren't playing WoW drunk you are doing it wrong!

I could sort you out with an EU scroll - send me a PM if you still need one.

Anytime I have tried to play WoW drunk, I don't end up doing anything but typing silly **** in guild chat, or saying silly **** over vent. My ADD gets soooo much worse when I'm drunk lol. I tried to go do AQ 20 one time with my priest (at level 85 I might add), and in around 30 minutes I managed to kill two trash packs and then I gave up. =x

I fall asleep when I drink. So I was playing WoW once after having several drinks and I work up running into a wall in Orgrimmar. I know... it isn't exciting. That is why I don't drink and play.

Last time I was tipsy in WoW I was TF -> Swipe spamming, and pulling everything off our Warrior tank. He wasn't a happy camper after a while, but I thought it was hilarious. Smiley: rolleyes

Same here. Anything after one(maybe two if enough time passes between 'em) drinks, and all I feel is groggy. As such, drunk WoW isn't a great idea.

Whenever I get drunk in WoW, I always seem to decide that it's a good idea to create a new alt. I'm not sure if it's the reasonable part of my mind behind the drunkenness trying to tell me that the training zone is the only thing I can handle, or if it's just all the sparkly of a new toon. If it's a holiday season, I then spend all my time doing mindless holiday quests.

I like creating new characters anyway, but usually I have a purpose for them. When I'm drunk, I have no idea what the purpose is.

Vesaera that is awesome. I imagine you logging on after a long night of drinking to find yourself at the 50 character limit with servers that you have no memory of full of toons.

Shhh!

It hasn't happened yet, mostly due to the fact that I'm close to 50 anyway with the *real* characters, but I'll admit that many of them haven't been developed, so sometimes I will have to delete a character to make a new one -- that also happens more often when drunk . . . or when I start playing again after a break.
