100-200g to make my own piece of armor? Eh, no.
I'd have agreed with you back during vanilla. But that's only a day, maybe a day and a half of dailies.
Actually, I'm lying about agreeing in vanilla. I made me one of
these at 58 and was glad for the opportunity. I'm pretty sure the mats cost more than 300g and that was at a time when 20g an hour was some damn good farming.
Weeeelllll, like I said, I'm a cheapskate.
lol.
Heck, when I got my first level 90, I knew I needed Contender's armor, but when I saw the 500-800g per, I was like "um, no..."
So, I camped the AH until I found 90-150g pieces and it took 3-4 days but I outfitted my character with those.
Now my blacksmith can make them for free, a couple weeks later.
No your blacksmith can't.
Even if you're collecting your own mats, you have to factor in how long it took you to farm the mats, and what else you could have been doing at the time to make money (i.e. dailies or making stuff to sell with those mats).
I understand where you're coming from, but you're basically ignoring how economics work.
