PVP gearing - how do you like the Cata system so far?Follow

As I understand it, in BC it was too easy to get PVP gear. I don't think I'd have liked that. In Wrath, there were slots in which it was impossible to get PVP gear without a minimum arena rating. I definitely did not like that. I said it a million times during Wrath: I don't want free stuff. I don't want the same tier of gear as people who make more effort and/or are more skilled than me. But I also don't want to wield a Titansteel Guardian for two freaking years.

From where I'm sitting, Cata PVP gearing is really the best of all worlds. I can get conquest and honor points through a variety of activities, at my own pace, and fill every slot with something better than I had before, rather than feeling obligated to raid if I want to better my gear. I hope they keep it like this for all this expansion's seasons, although as I mentioned in another thread, I wouldn't mind one more level of tier-spread so that people with high arena ratings could get better armor than me, similar to weapons.

What say you? Has Blizz gotten it right this time? Or would you still like to see changes?

Seems good to me. I think I read they're adding a 2200 weapon soon? I like that idea, have a high rated weapon, but a mid tier PVP epic weapon that takes some effort (rated BGs, arena wins) but no rating to get. I like it.

And gearing up as a nub (ie: me) is nice, the crafted PVP set is pretty good, and I dont feel gimped at all really.

Yeah, this is pretty much the system that I've advocated from the get-go. Takes effort to get gear, but really everyone but the upper echelon has access to gear if they make the effort for it.

I really think I'm going to like it on my hunter (when my hunter gets to 85).

Definitely an improvement.

I had a terrible time trying to find people to play with me during wotlk as in s7 I had the blue PvP gear which was by that time 6 tiers behind or something. The only way to get a weapon was to either PvE or get 1800. Took a lot of frustrating losses to PvE heroes until I finally managed to get 1.8k in 2v2...

I like it so far. Have been gearing a DK for PvP and it has been going at a decent pace, not too fast but not painfully slow.

My priest got to abuse TB win trading though. That was a gear bonanza. So kind of skewed my perception at first but overall I like the new system.
