Question on PvP serversFollow

#1 Feb 11 2011 at 1:06 AM Rating: Decent
So I am considering transferring my characters to a PvP sever, however, I would like to find out if it would even be worth it given certain expectations I have. That is, do random, large scale world PvP fights break out often?

Thank you for any input.

TB is a constant PvP zone, wear your gear and use your spec. GY camping happens often. Dailies must be done in a group. The zone is pretty much just constant PvP.

Random world PvP isn't as prevalent. City raids are not uncommon but not very common either.

Farming is done in PvP gear/spec. As if I can kill the guy before he takes my node I will.

No large scale random PvP fights though.

I found a lot more world PVP on the PVP server I played on than my PVE server. But that's not to say there was always some kind of epic battle going on. Not by a long shot. It wasn't a primary activity, it was just more. That said, I think a lot of that depends on the particular server. They all seem to have their own culture.

I find theres not a whole lot. The more time you spend out in the world gathering, doing dailies, questing, the more chance you have at finding or starting some PVP. But zones are huge, everyone has flying mounts, I maybe got in 5 fights from 80-85 and once most people hit 85 it turns into world of queuecraft played from the relative safety of a capital city.

I played on three different PvP servers (one of them a RP-PvP) over the last 2,5 years and the large scale world PvP battles were scarce. I don't know about PvE servers since I never played one but if you are looking for massive battles just happening here and there on a regular basis then I wouldn't recommend a transfer.
More ganking should be the only real difference since I would imagine that Tol Barad is the same experience on a PvE server. At least I think you get auto-flagged when entering a PvP zone.

You'd certainly think so, but carebear servers are carebare. Neither TB island autoflags you on a PvE server, I was shocked to discover a couple months ago. Very disappointing, though it made the grind to zalted with Baradins (ally) a breeze.

Pretty much agree with everything though TB is hit or miss depending on who is playing at the time. I did my TB-Pen dailies and spotted quite a few allies, none of which ever attacked me, horde never attacked them we just all seemed to want to do our dailies and be done with it. I know there are people who simply roam around looking for a fight but not too often I don't believe.

World PVP is pretty much gank and move on, and probably, like most people stated happen during farming.

There is also the occasional city attack but people are a lot more cautious of the 85 elite guards running around so it usually deters them for the most part, or they go and camp dungeon entrances (rfc).
