Jedi by doing nothing? Is it possible?Follow

Is it possible to unlock FSCS by doing nothing but playing the game normally (i.e. without Holocron or profession grinding)? I feel that it would be. Any opinions?

I am trying different professions on 7 of my 8 characters in my account, maybe just playing and leveling them without Jedi as my goal may unlock it. Who knows.

No flames or telling me that the holocron is the ONLY way either. This is an honest question.

thanks!

Basically, I agree that you can unlock the jedi slot without making it your primary goal. However, depending upon what you mean by "playing the game normally" this could take much much much longer. So much longer that it is no longer feasible. For instance, if playing normally means mastering weaponsmith and making weapons for the rest of your days, I don't think you're going to get there.

Is it possible without the Holocrons?
-All along, the devs have claimed that the Holocrons are not necessary. Granted, the blind grind should take a lot longer than a grind with the guidance of Holocrons.

Is it possible without profession grinding?
-What do you mean by profession grinding? If you mean "Is it possible without mastering many professions" then the evidence points to a big fat no. Of all the people who have unlocked the jedi slot, the consistent common factor is the mastery of many professions. I don't think that you'll find any way around it. If you avoid grinding by mastering professions of your choice at your leisure, then yes it's altogether possible to unlock the slot.

One other thing: Playing multiple characters will most likely slow your approach to jedi. I can't prove that the cumulative actions of multiple characters on one account are not effective, but consider the evidence:
1. You can only create a jedi on the server that you unlocked the slot. It's not unreasonable to conclude that *only* the actions taken by that particular character on that server were factored into the slot unlocking.
2. Different characters on different servers on the same account have been instructed by holocrons to follow different professions. If the path is different for each character, then the most efficient approach should focus on one character. Otherwise, you'll end up with 7 characters that are 10% of the way to unlocking the slot instead of one character that is 70% complete.

ARGGG!!! Stupid forum setup!!! I've typed this twice, before accidentally erasing it with the Esc key. Here is my very abbreviated version of what I was about to say.

Profession grinding means grinding all professions without the use of a Holocron in the hopes of unlocking FSCS.

I don't do this. Others do.

I am using all of my account characters to level various and strange prof combos, like Carbineer/Fencer and TKA/Tailor. Without completely mastering any of these profs (except my BH/Ranger who has obviously mastered scout and marksman) I have tried practically every profession in the game, except doctor and combat medic and rifleman and bioengineer. I am trying to master by TKA/Tailor and Carbineer/Fencer skills on my separate chars with a fools hope of POSSIBLY unlocking FSCS. I have yet to unlock it, but it is no biggie. If it happens, it happens.

There, thats it finally. LOL. Call me crazy, but I feel that the SWG Devs are keeping the more exact details about the whole FSCS/Jedi fiasco under wraps, maybe to make things interesting or to keep more people playing the game longer.

Wouldn't it be easier to say they (Devs) pick & choose who gets to be a Jedi by simply unlocking that forceslot on their account!? That is why nobody has any clue and the Devs are certainly not talking. Better to play your game and "ENJOY" it rather than risking a nosebleed from the stress and frustration of grinding your character into the shape of a key for a lock which is not even within our reach. Imagine how much sweeter it will be once your Slot is Open knowing you never knocked yourself out and spent countless of hours working instead of playing the game. Course..if ya do find out how they do it, drop me a line...hehe!

You could always Master Swordsman or Fencer and pretend... :)

Can't say that I think Holocrons is the only way to go. I hope not =) I got Master Musician on my first holocron on Chilastra. I quit playing there cos of it... Now I almost only play on Ahazi. I'm grinding through all the proffesions i've always wanted to do instead and I'm having a blast. So far i've Architect, Artisan, Medic, Combat Medic and almost Merchant. Gonna go Master Doctor and then maybe Master Entertainer. Master SwordMan next on the list after that =)

I almost feel free not hologrinding. I'm living it and actually enjoying the game for the first time since I started in September.

I have heard that holocrons only 'guide' you towards what is already written as your 'destiny'...and that if you just guess right you get your FSC.

if that is true...what is the point of the 'silent' holocron? if you have already been told what to do by your first holocorns and you only have one more to master...it just seems to be a cruel joke to pay/find a holocron only to tell you what you already knew...that you have to figure out the last one by yourself

I have to say that I do NOT believe it is possible to unlock the FSCS without mastering multipule professions...to much evidance points to it being the only way...(wish it was not, I would like to hear about a totally single profession character unlocking)

also I would like to see Jedi having other skills then offense and defense....Jedi after all weren't just the protectors of the galaxy...they were great healers, artist, and crafters....but thats off subject

Its impossible to be a jedi by not mastering 5+ professions with one character. All the hype and BS about unique paths and crap was just that.. crap. SOE's short-bus riders the SWG team decided would be one of their features of their game.. but it was too hard for them to comprehend or took too much time from them playing their jedi chars on the internal server or decorating houses with stuff in game so they just slapped in the holocrons and that you have to master w-x-y-z professions which are randomly chosen for you.

If professions had nothing to do with Jedi I would have unlocked my slot a long time ago, as I travelled every where there was to go, did all the quests in game that weren't Imp only, went up rebel ranks, participated in PVP, visited all the POI's, started a PA, was an artisan, a dancer, a bio-engineer, a smuggler, a pistoleer, a commando, a CH, a brawler, a marksman, a medic, etc etc etc..

By saying they have no way of tracking which POI's we visited before the badges went live or what professions we mastered before the master profession badges went live just proves that they werent "tracking EVERYTHING in game" like they said they were.. its all a mindless grinding session to play your character over and over and over again til you find the magic set of masters that gets you your slot. Very boring and unimaginative. If you hate yourself, you could do this without reading any holocrons.. but theres a chance youre going to have to master allllll professions with one character.. where as the holocrons can narrow that down for you. If you still believe theres some really cool thought-out way to unlock your slot then you are mistaken.

I beleive all said could be the truth(or at least part of it), including the latter above me. All I know is whether it is out of shame or their oath to keep Jedi's to a minimum, that they are not gonna share info w/ us. I would like to believe that it is based on what happens after U master a prof. Are they tracking, for instance, the extra crafting XP after U hit your Master BE? Maybe they want well seasoned players for Jedi's not the ones jumping profs... Holo-Holo... I would like to believe such a system exists. But I fear that it does not. Untill I find out (or maybe even after) I might be jumping profs but only because I have grown tired of the current 1.
