You know, this brings up an interesting point.

Why do we have a secure trade window?

One would assume it is to protect the gamer from being taken. A wonderful idea I think to myself....but then again, if I want my weapon sliced, or my armor repaired or a mount trained I have to hand the item/creature over to a complete stranger? This seem a little contradictory to anyone else?

I have never (nor will I ever) cheat another player. That said, if I really wanted to - then what is to stop me?

I could certainly grind out smuggler. Then when you bring me your weapon to slice I could have a low-sliced weapon in my inventory and keep yours to slice for my friends. By the time you realize the condition is 850/12000 I would be gone. If I even give it back at all.
When you give me your locked container, how will you know if the contents I return are not just junk that I want to get rid of? Locked containers usually hold junk anyway say you? Ok, but what if that changes? What if every once in a while they start dropping holos? I hear some of the smugglers mumbling. What's that? Roleplaying? No, my friends, roleplaying is cheating a player because he had a choice and chose wrongly, not cheating because the game system allows you to.

For example, if I sell you a generator turbine (that I renamed when I crafted it) and tell you it is a remote control bomb, and you don't bother to examine the item in the secure trade window - then you have been "fairly" cheated.

Why have secure trade at all if you have to trust a stranger with your armor, the most expensive (at this time) repairable item in the game?

There needs to be a secure slice and secure repair window. This is a glaring inconsistency in core gameplay and a huge flaw. I can't believe it hasn't been addressed.

Btw, not knockin' smugglers. Everyone I have dealt with in the game thus far has been on the "up and Up".

Just making a point.

I agree, this is a very poorly implemented part of the gameplay.

Players should just be able to consent others to VIEW their inventory and access the items radial menu with slice or repair options on them whithout actually being able to pick them up.

[Red] I know Milad . We WERE good friends. One day, a few days ago my swoop bike got damage he said he would repair it. So Ilet him take it to his shoop. He said to come back there in 30 minuets when I came back the shop was gone and so was he. He sent a message to me saying that He has some friends and if I tried to get it back I would die like that. SO i have been chasing him with a buddy and I have tracked him down to AnchorHead.

I sliced for free a container last night had a force crystal. The guy was so happy he gave me 2 bows. Yea 2 bows and I hand him back a force cystal. "OH WOOT" says he. He then proceeds to remind me I could have just taken it. I took this as he was kinda thinking I was a fool for being so honest. /bink. I recieve my second bow mind you as he was running out the door of anchorhead cantina. I have been waiting so long and finally I recieved my bows I've been struggling for. I wish I could remember the cheapskates name.

If crap like this keeps up its enough to drive someone to do wrong things. He could have at least invited me to hunt is what I was hoping it would lead to.

The above post is exactly why I have so many locked containers rotting in my house. Until they implement something in the game where i can see what comes out of them other than just 100% trusting the smuggler, thats where they will be. Prolly just junk as usual but id rather not take the chance. BTW he said force crystal not holo you moo moo.

I"m a slicer, and I won't even look in your locked container. It doesn't bother me if I miss something...best I've seen was a gunman's duster in a container I looted.

If you want to find Milad, for the last week he's been hanging out in the cantina in Coronet. He's there almost every night. I gave him crap about this in the group tonight, and he didn't make a peep, quiet as a mouse.

I hope all that was cheat bye "milad"
Have send it a report, so that person can get ban from the game......

Let's us see if he/she like to get new isp, credit card, new game-key, to keep playing.

This kind of stuff is such a game killer. It's a MMORPG .. there's a MM in there for a reason, not just because the game is populated by 'suckers' for people to rip off.

I never use a slicer / reapirer unless they've been vouched for by people I know. Meh, hunt him down and make his life hell :)

To be perfectaly honest you guys must have NEVER seen any of the movies, the Starwars Galaxy is not a happy filled place where people polity do stuff. Its (atleast suppose to be) filled with evil scum, theifs, and all sorts of criminal activty. Yea I have been punished for such acts but obviously if someone is stupid enough to buy a 100sided dye named "Jedi Holocron" for 3mill, I say get the quick money. Same goes for Smugglers thats why I choose not trust anyone unless I often play with them, or they are guilded.

An idea I had recently, is to exchange items during a repair. For instance a slicer agrees to open a container, he allows you to hold something of his. Or an artisan agrees to fix something for you, then he lets you hold something of equal value. Armor for armor, speeder for speeder, and so on. Of course this only really works if the person asking you to fix there item really wants it back.

Secondly, no matter how nice, or honest, or wealthy, a player character is, no one should be doing anything for free. At least the player who slices your container, or repairs your stinking dirty underwear should be a friend, or companion, or guild/association member. If he or she is not one of those things he should charge you, or expect to be able to call on you for a similar in value favor later. This may seem a bit tight, or petty, but that is how it works in the real world and that is how it should work in the the MMORPG. Sure I'll help you out when your down and out, but if I see you in my time of need don't be surprised if I ask you to return the favor.

Newbies are the only exception to the rule, always help a newbie, but always make them work for it. For instance if they need a coat, don't just give them the coat make them come to the bazar and sell it for 1 credit. Yeah you didn't make any money, but you have taught the newbie how to be more self sufficient, and how to find items for themself later.

-A million years have I seen, and yet tomarrow I expect to learn something new-
