You can
A. You can just use dail-up and use a phone jack.
B. Get a ethernet cable long enough to reach your Hub.
C. Everytime you play take your cable modem from your computer and re-hook it up to your playstation.

i have the nyko net extender.... well thing is its wireless but it doesn't allow to share the connection between yer computer and the game system, so if u have $190 buy the wireless router modem for $100-$120 then buy the signal reciever for $65 and that should do. those are the price they go for rite now in circuit city.
P.S: if u do buy the net extender and u also play a shooting game like Socom 2 ur gonna be lagging pretty badly.

IMPORTANT! DO NOT BUY ANOTHER MODEM! Depending on your cable provider you may need to register your modem to the ethernet provider. If you do this they will charge you for connecting another modem. I just tried this yesterday and had to buy a router to solve the problem. Now im stuck with a modem that i should not have purchased. Your best bet is the wireless router. Yeah it costs a lot but it is better than paying $40 a month for a second moedem. FYI I have Comcast Cable Internet
