destruction of personal property in gameFollow

#1 Jan 31 2004 at 5:26 AM Rating: Decent
A few nights ago I was playing and my character was attacked just outside of Mos Entha after I was incapacitated, the NPC who was attacking continued to fire on my speeder bike until it was rendered disabled, and now it cannot be repaired. I payed hard earned credits for this bike and when I reported this I was told that the game was responding the way it was supposed to, I had hoped it was a bug of some kind. To say the least I am a little disappointed.

You may be dissapointed, but its a common fact that you have to becareful fighting NPCs with a speeder out. Next time run away if you dont want your speeder blown-up.

And I think it would be cooler if they had made it that if a NPC knocks you out or kills you that they steal the speeder and ride off on it, leaving your body in a cloud of dust... never to be seen again.

An ounce of realism, imagine that... just when I was starting tho think that we weren't playing an RPG. I hope you can find some way to overcome your loss, and although you may have my sympathy, you may not have my regards.

as long as you do not store the bike disabled just wait awhile and you will be able generate the bike again. it will generate back to the last time it was stored. This also works for damage, go to the garage and fix your bike up and store it. Now if you never store it again you can always call it back at full health. note sometimes you have to wait awhile before you can call the bike back.

thats not how its done, generate the disabled vehicle anywhere, but leave it out, take a ship to another city, store the vehicle and generate it again, it will be brand new, :) works everytime. now i dont get choked when im in pvp and someone attacks my speeder before me to grievei just waste em harder.

Hey I use shuttles to regenerate my speeder all the time, the question I have however is dose this method work to regenerate other storable items such as pets and droids.

this is just a question, but wouldn't that be considered an exploit and, by SOE's definition a cheat? Wouldn't that make this a possibly bannable offense? Once again just a question not a flame or anything being said about your morals or anything like that.

I have had this happen to me. I was doing Rebel missions and got hit by a Emp player, not a npc, He took me out, I was only a 1111 marksman to his Master Fencer, and then distroyed my speeder. I had run 25 missions to get enough up for that speeder, and now the name among two others who have taken me out, is posted by my computer. When I'm on Reb missions I will stop to see who is coming up behind me, If it's a Emp, they too will be taken out. I will not lose again. So be warned, I will shoot, and I will have you cloned. I am a Master now.

If you don't want to risk your speeder being blown up, walk!

The re-generating your vehicle to get its health back is the bug that came with the vehicles the day they were launched. It has been there from day one, is still there today.

Remember all those vehicles clogging up cities for the first few days because you couldn't store them? You could call a new bike though and leave your duplicate sitting out front of starport. This bug was not fixed, it was dealt with by making the unstoreable vehicle "pop" after 2 minutes. This fix actually caused more problems such as causing your bike to "pop" from under you while you are riding it!

I would really hate to see anyone banned because of a bug that SOE is well aware of. People who aren't trying to deliberately get their bikes health back are having this happen anyway so how do you discern who is guilty of "exploit" and who isn't?

Hopefully it will be finally fixed in publish 6.
