Heh heh heh heh, Jezus, you never fail to crack me up.

And Phil, I"m not experienced with it enough to comment on BH, but as for BE, it is a long hard climb, and the benefits are delayed until later on (unless you're a CH, which I highly recommend to combine it with). But it can be a very valuable profession for money, and for fun (I enjoy the complexities of the creation and tailoring process of making animals).

And to try and answer the trend of your threads, there is no single ultimate path in the game. Every choice has its advantages and disadvantages:

Race: each race may have an advantage in certain classes (wookie's get a handy bonus in terms of CH), but if you play for any extended period of time, you will play other classes, so the best advice is to pick whichever race seems most interesting to you. Throughout the game you can change most everything about you, the only exceptions are Race and Gender, so those are the ones to pick wisely.

Profesion: your choice of profesion is best done by looking at the possibilities before you start, and when you begin, play whatever first caught your eye. You will figure out as you play what you like and from that what you really want to do.

Ok I can comment on the BH, It is a very very hard profession. Is it worth it in the end? That I can not tell you. I know for me I wanted to grind holos but after I made master BH I decided to get a second account so I can keep my master BH. The profession has not one def skill in the tree. You get a few good combat skills though that are very fun for PvP and PvE. Like Knockdown Fire and a very mild DOT with Pistols at master. In PvE and you are fighting an NPC most of the time you can attack them and keep them on the ground with Knockdown Fire and spray shot. Both are in the carbine line. PvP is a little more hard to explain, just never get in range of any melee or flame range for a commando or you are going down hard. At master you get about 33 points left over to spend as you wish. This is not enough tio do very much of anything. If you want to heal your self might as well cut that down by 15. There are some good BH guides out there and the BH boards are good to read also. If you are on the same server as me you can send me a tell and I will try to answer any questions that you might have.

Does BE require the use of Harvesters, materials, and the usual crafting headache of survey/sample?

Or can I just DNA sample and craft animals from it and gain XP that way? I'm tired of spending money to buy 500 units of blah and mixing it with 1000 units of blah to make a blah component that has nothing to do with crafting blah.

I want to sample DNA and immediately make a critter. But, I suppose that would kill the fun factor.

I mean if I just need milk and meat, I can handle that. I can easily harvest some BE crafting materials on a single Dantooine hunt.
