DATABASE SUBMISSIONS:

There are on-going efforts to create a definitive database for the Lord of the Rings Online which will cover quests, mobs, items, traits and much more! While we are not ready to reveal any of the work thus far, we are looking for submissions to the database. In particular, we are looking for quests in the dwarf, elf and high level areas, titles, accomplishments, traits and conjunctions. That said, we would still appreciate submissions from other areas as well.

If you would like to submit information to build the database, please send your submissions to lotroteam@allakhazam.com . In addition, if you have any questions on how we would like the information submitted, I will be more then happy to answer them by that e-mail.

We greatly appreciate the support of the Allakhazam community in building our databases! It is my hope that we can show them off soon.

This was newsed a couple of weeks ago, and because we are still looking for submissions, I have re-posted it here as a sticky. :) If you have anything to submit, we do appreciate it

FRONTPAGE SUBMISSIONS:

On the frontpage of LOTRO Allakhazam, there are a couple of features that depend entirely on you: our users! These are our media box and thought for the day highlights. The former is rather self-explanatory: it is simply a screenshot. The latter is a little more complex: it can be an enlightening, funny or satircal idea or thought as it relates to the Lord of the Rings Online.

So why am I making this a sticky? Well, we want submissions - from you! If you have any screenshots that you would like to be highlighted on our frontpage, or a thought you may want displayed, please send it to us at lotroteam@allakhazam.com . If you wish to be credited for it, please include your in-game name, server and kinship (if applicable).

Thanks for your continuing help in making LOTRO Allakhazam a stunning success!

DF add: We have changed it from being changed once a week, to daily. Smiley: grin

Any particular format you prefer, or do you just accept spam? :-)

That would be dependent on the type of the submission. Quests and items for instance are preferable via screenshot (as the log or item examine has most, if not all the information we need). Alternatively, mobs can be just written out by hand. The rule of thumb is thus: whatever form gives us the most information to use.

I prefer the quest information to already be typed out, not a screenshot. Magi loves to torture himself, I do not. And since you can directly copy from game and paste to an out of game document, that shouldn't be too hard. Include who gave it to you, what the rewards are, any zones/areas/mobs/npcs related, stuff like that.

I prefer item information typed out as well, screenshot of the "look" of the item instead of SS of the examine of the item. We just add the info to the db anyway, so show us what the items look like on!

Mobs, we need pix of mobs, not just what the stats are. We need level, morale and power, places you can see it, and a ;loc now and then is realy nice. If it's linked with a quest, let us know that info too!

As for how to submit (no need to email ROFL). Images need to be in jpg, gif, or png formats, nicely cropped. We also don't mind if you put your name or kinship name on them for advertisement purposes. If you have the time, a direct link to what you are sending info for is really awesome, saves us the time of looking so we can add more info for you! (if we have that info already, that is)

I don't access the lotroteam email, so feel free to PM, IM, or email me also.

Does the information need to be sent as an email or a pm? I have hotmail and wouldn't want my work to be filtered as spam.

I personally don't mind either. I have gotten like 10 PM's from Kurohyou in the last few days!

As for myself, I prefer e-mails. I don't think lotroteam@allakhazam.com filters from hotmail, but I will double check to make sure.

edit: The above e-mail does not filter @hotmail.com addresses as spam.

Whitesteel, I never received your submission. I found out a couple of days ago that the lotroteam@allakhazam.com had some problems. As a result, a number of e-mails were likely lost. So if you wouldn't mind re-submitting the screenshots and quests - and any others you may have - we would appreciate it immensely.

I dont know if it belongs here...
Not taking in account copyright, I can recommend copying half of the LOTR manual in the database > classes.
Also the guides on Game Guides > classes are pretty bad, imo, and dont give me an idea on how the classes work and play.
As experienced RPG'er, i just want to know stuff like "skill tree" (heard there was something like that on LOTR), spell list (ability), pets, stats, gear options and leveling progression. (what talents or roles unlock at later levels?)

Also a lot of pratical questions that arent answered, e.g. can a captain beside being buffer primirly and healer/dd secondary, can he also be tank with the right gear? How does switcing weapons and gear work in LOTR? Can it be done in combat? What kind of stats come on what armour type?
Gameplay questions like that for those that never played the game, imo the current guides are a bit empty words.
Maybe they make sense when you play the game but they dont make sense when you never touched the game.

Like the Understanding the Guardian guide, to me it ONLY says, "gaurdian is a tank", it doesnt tell me anything else bc i have no concept how skills work in LOTR. And then under skills it isnt listed what skills, how many, how much aggro, whats the power cost, whats the cooldown, IS there a cooldown in the first place? so i can make eany imagination how the class plays.

Also the traits compendium i still dont get how traits work, can you have a limited number of traits per level? Like D&D skills? Is there a tree structure so are some traits prerequisite to others? Can all calsses have all traits?

I think a "RPGer transition guide to LOTR" would help very much.

Bc i hadnt had the faintest idea how classes and stats worked (moral = hp, power = mp) in LOTR until i read the LOTR PDF manual.
Even the official LOTR site is very bad in telling this basic information.

The manual contains a lot of answers to the more experienced RPGer's questions.
Now im actually interested in LOTR and willing to give it a try, before i read the manual i was like "pff WoW clone" like a lot of people so it seems.

That PDF manual will be bumped off the frontpage someday ;)

If I have a cropped screenshot of an item, is there any way to post the jpeg in the items database, or do I have to email it to you?
