Jedi Path-Please HelpFollow

Greetings All,

I am considering jumping into the realm of SWG, and I have some questions concerning the Jedi path for anyone who could be kind enough to help.

First off, I have become aware through some reading that SWG has gone through some dramatic changes that have left many devoted subscribers unhappy. My curiosity regarding these changes is not very deep (since I am new), with the exception of aquiring a "Force Sensitive" slot, as opposed to it now being a playable "path" (or so I am led to believe).

Would anyone care to fill me in on this new system for Jedi? Has it now become a generic class like "swordmage", choose Jedi and go find the path alongside 10000000000 others? Or is it a path that only the few who work for can truly attain a mastery of? How is the combat system (Lightsaber, FP), and is it possible to gain xp as a Jedi through non-combat means, i.e diplomacy? Basically, is there something unique about the class of Jedi, as opposed to other classes, besides the weapons/etc used to kill an opponent?

Ahhh..So many Q's, So little time.

the new system of jedi is really easy like all the others when you create your charater you choose what you are going to be. example is jedi bounty hunter commando ect ect. you don't get a lightsaber till lvl 20 something and you have to build it. there is no path for say, that is you go from lvl 1 to 90.most xp is gained from killing things or doing quest. not all quest require to kill anything some are just simple recon or delivery quest.but i would say only a few could really master the proff because so many just rush to 90 and never take the time to figure out how the proff is susposed to be played. hope that helps i know you will have much more questions once you start.

Jedi is just another profession now in SWG. Unlike the days of old where you had to unlock a Force slot to be able to even start a jedi now any player can chose to be a jedi from the start.

The profession advances just like any other combat class. Kill or quest for the same xp at the same rate. As listed above you dont get your first lightsaber until level 26 which will be a training saber..somewhere in your mid 30s you get the ability to craft lightsabers. As you advance in levels you can craft more powerfull sabers.

Jedi can only wear Jedi robes and a few other very limited clothing type armor. Where as most other combat classes can chose from a much larger selection of armor and weapons.

I have recently returned to SWG after a two year absence. I also expected to find the servers full of nothing but jedi...but truth to tell I have seen far more players of other professions then jedi. The game seems to be receiving a new wave of players , new and old, returning to add new life to SWG.

Greetings All,

Thanks for the insight folks. I'm dl'ing the trial version now. Just a another couple of questions..(Still have 9 hrs left)

1)Does SWG have a Jedi Council? If so...

2)Are Jedi held accountable to the council for actions commited good-bad?

3)Besides the main storyline quests, can players on the server create thier own?

4)Does a Padawan Jedi have a Master Jedi (PC or NPC) they study under-travel with?

Just Curious...

1)No, the only one's are playercreated and playerbased.

2)No

3)Only way to actually have some content these days are if you make it up on your own. I know several servers have player based councils

4)No, you must get one yourself through roleplay or playerbased councils

sorry but there is nothing like that in this game, swg actually doesnt follow the swg genre all that closely funnily enough, its just a 3rd person shooter now, jedi, also are among the weakest of the combat classes, though it does vary with the nerf bat being wielded fairly frequently :D

Greetings All,

Very interesting. I like the idea of a player-created jedi coucil, and I feel there is a sense of community among jedi on the servers...but I just have to say one thing. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE DEVELOPERS?!? They have a project that could be the most innovative and interesting, but they fall short on so many ideas...I mean, the traditional system of gaining rank as a jedi is non-existant? leaving a character who wishes to enjoy the jedi role in SWG for its substance, to run around with a lightsaber killing other players and creatures mindlessly? (please, correct me if I am wrong..I really hope I am.)

I can understand the scope of the project, the work involved, but cutting corners is not a way to build on a universe that has so much potential in an mmorpg setting. Blah-Blah...I just have to deal with my disapointment. But I dont know. Guidance? Positive outlooks?

All for 15 bucks a month...guidance, please.

Bushi.
