Looking to get into EQOAFollow

#1 Apr 09 2007 at 8:02 AM Rating: Decent
I've always been a fan of MMORPG's (really, once you start theres no going back to normal games), and after trying most of the PC ones, I was looking at this game. I have nothing against the PC games, I played WoW and I'm still playing CoH/V. My birthday is coming up and I hope to get EQOA with a few months and a USB Keyboard.

Only concern I have is the population. I don't want to come to a game thats going to die in like 4 months. I understand that EQOA still has a good life left, even though it is nearing its end, but if I played on the most populated server would I have fun? Really if the max population on a server is 5,000 and like 4,500 people play on it thats no different that a good population to me, even if its only on one server. I don't mind spending a month or 2, or even 3 really leveling up to get to a good population area.

I look forward to seeing you all, any tips for a new player are accepted, if anyone has a place that gives server population, or can tell me the most populated server, I would greatly appreciate it, any really great fansites, forum sites, I would love. If there is anything I really need besides a nice wireless controller (for myself), internet, and a USB Keyboard (I gotta think you practically need this), please let me know!

I don't know of anywhere to find actual server population. I can guarentee you won't see 5,000 (or 4500) on 1 server. But there are enough people to do all the fun things there are to do in the game. Castle Lightwolf 'appears' to be the most populated server. Though I seen plenty of traffic for PPO and DH. I play on Hodstock, and there are enough people there. All servers have their dead times, but not too often or too long.

As far as 'leveling up' to get to populated areas, they made it easier to get to the more popular cities. (see my thread about 'making a list', has porters and coach's who will take you to other cities). It is fairly easy to level to where you can run with most people and groups.

As far as sites:
http://singforu.tripod.com/id483.html
is the best that I know. He even has links to some decent sites under his Links.

And for accesories, you have the basics. One thing I would recommend, I printed out the map found at http://macsingz.tripod.com/id72.html titled 'Tunaria' on a color printer (split onto 2 pages and just taped it together). That has been a godsend ever since. Other than that, you have it all covered.

And if you can't find something off the Sing site or in here, drop by the forum and ask. I'm usually on during work hours M-F. Good Luck.

Is there an online fee simply to play on the PS2? Like will I be paying for PS2 AND EQOA? I know Xbox has its live fee, but most of the games are free to play once you pay that.

Nope, you'll only have to pay for EQOA.
