Why can't I attack?Follow

#1 Apr 09 2007 at 11:43 AM Rating: Decent
I'm doing a hunting quest but when I click on them or even do the ` button then 1) Attack it does nothing. And when the enemy engages me my character points the other way and does nothing. Why is this and what can i do?

Also, I am following the jedi path, and some of my force powers at the bottom have a red circle with an x, what does that mean?

Thanks!

Be sure to clear your target before you attack. "Escape" key. There are times I forget and cant attack because I still have a mission terminal or speederbike still targeted. The "X" ed out skills may also be the result of having an Invalid target. You cant use force throw against a bank terminal.

loosing an arm is just a flesh wound. you could kick them or bleed on them.

If a skill is blocked with a red circle it means that either you have an invalid target eg a bank terminal as previously suggested or you don't have the correct weapon equipped.

I am having this same problem. I believe I have narrowed it down to two possiblities. Battle fatige which you would think would warn you somehow with an icon or something. The other option is food. I have never bought food. I think that might be the issue next time I am in I will try that.

Food has very little impact any more and Battle Fatigue left the game with the CU. Neither of these ever stopped you from attacking in the first place.

The other thing to look at is your target. You can attack a red or a yellow target. You cannot attack a white NPC.

targeting issues............Hmmmm what is your cursor showing when you try and attack??

Some time ago when they "ehnanced" the targetting system they decided to make it even more complicated with the addition of a "safty catch" type feature.

If your in range of the target, the target is hostile, your weapon is equiped etc etc, it is likley that some how you have activated this feature (dont ask me how, if i knew that i would stop doing it my self from time to time, even thou i have deleted the key assosiation with it lol)

Take a look in your key map under targetting, cant remember what its called but im sure you will figure it out

Definatly the targeting issue. Hit Y I think and your cursor will go back to the defalt cross hairs. As soon as I did that I never had the issue again.

Yea, I had the same problem today, my cursor was a blue circle instead of the 4 yellow lines, but a friend told me to hit y, and it worked again. So you probobly accidentaly hit y when you were doing something, the most common thing would be when you hit enter to type a message in the chatbox, but it lags, so you dont really start typing in the chatbox, and you type a y, still thinking you're typing in the chatbox, and it turns on the safety catch.
