End game play? HNM-centric guilds/raiding?Follow

#1 Apr 10 2007 at 10:36 AM Rating: Decent
Hello. I'm wondering if anyone has information about what this game is gearing itself towards in the high level gameplay?

Does it seem like most of it will be centered around HNM Guild/LS/WhateverItIsInWOW raids like it was in FFXI (the last MMO I played)?

What will months of leveling up a certain class get you in terms of better or at least more varied possibilities for gameplay?

Short answer: Nobody knows.
Long answer: The game hasn't even been released yet, how could anyone know what the endgame is like when we're still not even able to get to 50?

My kinship will be doing whatever endgame there is though.

There are several aspiring endgame guilds out already, who are planning on getting into the endgame when it hits. However, like was said, the game isn't even out for another 2 weeks, so we don't know much about endgame... and I doubt closed beta will be a good indication.

I thought you had played FFXI for some reason Joph.

Anyways, HNM is a acronym for... Well, it's up for debate what the H stands for but the NM is a "Notorious Monster" think a rare spawn. Normally about a 2 hour spawn window on normal NMs with some very desired loot. The "H" debate was, last I checked, between "Hyper" and "Highly" not sure if it ever got settled. HNMs are normally long spawn times, like 18-24 hours on average, and can drop very good gear. All but a few need 10+ people to kill, and even the lower level ones who can be killed with less are tricky and risky to do in small groups.

I did but it was for a fairly short time a couple years ago. I was semi-familiar with "NM" but not "HNM". Back in EQ, we just called them 'raid mobs'.

The word HNM originated from an SE post that referred to high level notorious monsters as "High Notorious Monsters (HNM)"; the Japanese picked up the acronym first and the NA players eventually caught on.

We got the Australians, Landroval is supposed to be the RP server :P

A LOT of established kinships from closed beta moved to Elendilmir. Though it seems Mithril Crowns is the only one that's been spamming invites everywhere. We've got a pretty healthy core membership, still rounding things out, how's Epic doing?

Doing good, like you we are rounding out our core players. We closed recruitment officially and started a 2 week recruitment process, but still getting apps so it's all good :)
