Tailoring, weak compared to metalsmithing?Follow

You may be thinking "Wow, it's only the beta, and level 15, complaining a little soon aren't we?"

I'm not crying unfair yet, but I am a little worried. At the moment tailoring is looking somewhat weak to me compared to some other crafting professions like metalsmith and jeweller. I'm also aware that tailoring may not be the only crafting profession with problems, but it is the one I'm familair with and also the one I'm personally concerned about.

A few of the differences between the two include the mat requirements. To make one piece of normal medium leather armor requires 20 medium hides. To make one piece of normal iron armor requires 6 barrow iron ore and 4 medium hides.

Then there is the avaiblability of materiels. Veins contain 1-3 ore, 2 on average, and always have it. Mobs have approximately a 60% drop chance on hides, and only drop 1.

The mastery section of tailoring seems to be rushed as well, with crit items being only a small increase (some slight bonus armor and +3 stats) while crit metalsmithing recipes double the armor value.

And metalsmithing gains extra utility by being able to produce iron tools. Tailoring is currently only able to supply metalsmiths with the leather components needed in some recipes.

I'm not saying nerf this or buff that, but I am concerned, and was wondering if anyone else was concerned about their specific profession. Even if it's not in comparision to another profssion, do you think there may be problems with end game itemization? Perhaps I'm jsut paranoid and with release I'll realise I was foolish and that all my worries were for nought.

I thought tailoring requirements were excessive, I couldn't believe to make one item too nearly two stacks of leather! That may have been changed from when I did it before. But the recipe called for this leather item and that leather item and you needed like 4 of each, then you needed more leather to finish it off...

I see ore veins like crazy, and even branches and you usually get more than one. I don't know..?

Tailoring certain isn't the only craft with problems... Weaponsmithing is a bit of a pain also. Not as bad as tailoring, but at least it sounds like you can actually sell the items. Weaponsmithing is basically making worthless items, and for criting all you really gain is a small DPS boost that in some cases BARELY puts them in contention with quest items, or even drops of yellow quality. Maybe at a higher level it'll get a bit better, and crafted weapons will be more viable. I mean, i'm not asking for all the best weapons to be made by weaponsmithing, but when a level 10 weapon has as much DPS (and no extra stats) as a level 5 quest reward something is up.

You can be both with armourer...granted you'll need someone/a mule to process hides.

Oh don't worry Tomec my goods are just as unsellable as yours. At level 15 and a master journmeyan I'm wearing a statless vendor trash pants and armor drop I found because it's better than anything I can craft. Level 13-15 wolves drop the hides needed for level 10 armor.

Now I realise this has to do the with level cap, but metalsmiths can actually make a profit. Their crit items ARE the best at this level for guardians (who jsut got heavy armor), and even their non crit are pretty good.

Hopefully the level cap change will change that some... right now they are probably making so much off the armor because, well they are the only ones able to supply it to anyone. Ok, almost only ones I guess... since I do know there are some heavy armor drops. I wish that I knew what kind of DPS/stats higher level quest rewards have, since I can craft something like level 30 gear atm, and it truthfully doesn't seem all that hot. I mean yea, compared to current gear it is nice, but if the gear follows the same pattern...
