... and I am a LOTR:O addict.

It started out very simply, a friend said they heard the game was good. Then I was surfing the forums on here in the FFXI and they said free beta keys. I was worried, but everyone else was doing it, so I gave it a try.

So I played it a little, and at first it didn't make me feel that great. It felt sort of WoW-ish, and really left me a little ill as to what I was doing. I have a good thing going, me and my wife playing FFXI happily. Why throw all of it away to this... this... THING!

But then one day, I just started playing, and then... then... I hit level 10!

*sobs*

Monster play broke me... I couldn't help it! I can play a lute! I can solo! I'm a CAPTAIN! So I broke down and pre-ordered... I most likely will do the lifetime, as I know it's a hobbit... er... habit I won't be able to kick.

WoW clone or no, there's enough in this game to convince me there might be life after FFXI, and that's something in and of itself.

Me and my partner also played FFXI. I played for 2years and I got my partner playing just over 1year ago. It was addictive and we played all the time.... then we luckily got in on the closed beta for LOTRO and we ditched FFXI in a flash (like a slab of rotten meat). Well actually we were getting bored of FFXI and LOTRO came round at just the right time lol.

Its a good game and I hope your enjoying it as much as we are. LOTRO seems so much easier to play, it keeps the leveling diffaculty that FFXI had (i.e the time involved) but every task is different and its much funner to proform quests for EXP than it is to battle 1 type of monster all day (FFXI reference).
Plus crafting is so much easier. You can easily level a craft to stay at a required pase as you EXP and do quests without having to spend a great deal of time striding away from them to collect the items. Admittedly we do different crafts and so share items between us to speed it up.

Its a great game for friends and couples to play together. I happily protect my partner as a Gaurdian while she destroys the monsters from a distance as a Hunter.
