Well for starters, you are asking on a LOTRO board, you are going to get LOTRO is better responses.
No he isn't! *looks around and runs*
Anyways, I played EQ2 for awhile, and I quit it because I lost interest at one point and just couldn't get back into it. However, don't let the lack of races distract you from the game. Once you get to level 10 you can also play as various evil races like spiders, wargs, even orcs. Granted you're locked into one class on those and it's for PvMP... But, hey it does add more races
Both games (as in comparing all games) will have some strong points, some weak. One will do things a bit differently then another. So, if the lack of more races (keeping in mind that there were really only 4 races in the LotRO books which this is based off of, it isn't a fantasy setting that can be tweaked at will like WoW or EQ2) is that big of a deal then don't get the game. If you want to try out the game, well it's in open beta right now for another few days, you can try it out for free and if you like the game enough (or feel that you aren't getting enough of a picture of it) then go buy it and you'll get a free month to try it from buying the game.
