Frustrated with pre-orderFollow

#1 Apr 28 2007 at 3:11 PM Rating: Good
So I pre-ordered the game because I wanted to pay $9.99/mo. I also would have liked to play my character in the beta and then still have it, but I have been busy.

Anyway, my mail provider deleted my pre-order confirmation that had my code in it. I used Turbine's (abysmal) e-mail form support thing, but they basically said "lol, you can still play the beta, you just won't get to keep your character!" Fine, whatever, I was busy anyway.

Then today I get my copy of the game and register my key, and it only gives me the standard subscription options. Now I'm pissed, because this is going to continually cost me money for something I didn't ***** up.

So who should I contact? Should I try and deal with Turbine some more, maybe by phone and try and make them let me pay less? Should I call Gamestop to see if they can do something because they had my pre-order?

Did you make a new account? Because your beta account should still be active (until the 29th, which by my clock is tomorrow night). When you went to turbine did you log in to your existing account and then enter in the retail key? If you followed all those steps then you should get to a page saying "subscription options" with all the options listed.

If you did that and are still coming to the same page then my advice would be contact Turbine and explain your situation. Maybe they can help...but from what I've heard thier CS is not much help at all.

Like Dyadem said... did you make a new account or what? Also, did you ever enter that code from gamestop before the email got deleted? That should have flagged your account founder, and then you add the retail key and get the special pricing and keeping your beta chars.

No, I'm saying I got the key in my e-mail but my provider deleted it with no warning and I never got to enter it. I didn't make a "new account" I just never got the founder benefits because apparently there's no way to give me a new key.

I'm really frustrated with having to pay more just because they only send you one e-mail.

Ok, here is what you need to do...

1. Call up Gamestop and say you lost your founder key. They should be able to give it to you over the phone. Make up something like you are about to enter your retail key but know you need to enter the founder one before you do that and lost the email if they give you trouble, otherwise just tell the truth.

2. Call up turbine, say you accidentally forgot to enter your founder key (which you now have) and see if they can append it to your account.

Ask for the manager if gamestop gives you trouble about wanting it, and ask for the call to be escalated on the turbine end if they just say "sorry you should have put it in first" or give you the run around/blow you off. Above all just be calm about it. Don't shout, make demands, ect.
