How does one use map coordinate information ingame? There seems to be no way of applying the information.

Umm... Thanks, I had already checked out that thread, and it didn't help much. If the question is how does one apply map coordinates, I honestly can't see the relevance of this answer:

"I suggest you do it in a tell to yourself as it sends your loc to whatever chat channel you're using".

??????????

Basically it's like this

\tell <name> ;loc

The next line will show your map co-ordinates. So if your using Alla for quest maps and such, you can do the line above, and figure your rough location compared to the website location.

Did you catch the ;loc at the start of Tomec's post?

I honestly can't tell what you asking for. Besides finding out your current location the idea of knowing map coordinates for example is when you are using a guide that helps you go from A to B using already determined coordinates.

[Edit] I lost the post war lol

OK, got it this time. I honestly couldn't see how talking to myself was going to help, but it's clear now. Thanks again.

True, but then you give you a nice piece of paper saying "offically not crazy"

You can do a little bit of dead reconning in LOTRO.

If you know where an NPC is but their coordinates, and where you are by using ;loc you can find a flagged portion of your map and get its coordinates by hovering over it ( you'll see it's name and its map coordinates). You now have 3 reference points and can do a decent job of figuring out how far in which direction you need to go.

its a kind of cheapy triangulation, but it does work.
