Allakhazaam LOTRO site Functionality Question: Site AdminsFollow

#1 May 05 2007 at 2:39 PM Rating: Default
Hey there Allakhazaam Admins,
I have notice the the Accomplishments section has lost one of its best features. The ability to sort the Traits list by Area. It was possibly the best feature in that section and one I have referred people to many times.

My questions are, is this an oversight since the new functionality in the rest of the site came online? Will this feature make a return soon? I sure hope so.

Next questions, is there anyway for you to include a marker on the maps when the coordinates for a mob/drop/item/Place of Interest are available? I notice the maps are in place but there is never a location marked on the map. This would also be extremely useful but I have no idea how practical the implementation would be.

Anyways thats all for now!

Keep up the good work.

Just so you know...(and the rest of the impatient people like you)...the Alla Admins arent even done making the LOTRO section...so why not give it a rest for a month or two?

I'm not sure why it was taken away. I agree that it's an incredibly valuable function. I'll inquire about it.

Mobs are listed on our maps. There are some without anything, yes, but we're working on them. Mapping takes an incredible amount of work and it was only a resource we had access to recently. I'm not sure what the plans are to go past mobs, but if it's feasible and useful, they'll be included in the future.

Relax dude, I don't think in any way was I acting impatient or disrespectful. It was a simple inquiry. Please apply your snarky attitude to some forum where you get mod points for being rude. K THNX BYE.

After doing some searching around, I realized that there are markers for more than just mobs, but also locations of interest as well. I didn't know that you guys still all were doing the map markers by hand. Thanks for the quick response though. It clears things up :D

Thanks,

An excellent resource for LOTRO maps and POI (Although not absolutely everything is shown on it) is Middle Earth Headquarters (http://mehq.net/dynmap/index.php)

We had some css changes and that is prob the resulting break. The programmer who changed the CSS is not the one who had been working on it. However, I will get that issue forwarded on.

I am sure it was mentioned above that we add those marks in by hand, and the maps are no where near complete or how we want them. What you see now is just the beginning, and since it does take time, atm, you are going to just get the names. Also, in case you didn't know, those little squares are clickable, click and that should show you the locs.

We appreciate your comments and we have been working our butts off, even hired another set of hands to help out. Everyone needs to realize this isn't wow, this is more like EQ was originally... it's all by hand, everything. From placing little marks on the maps, to taking pix of item icons, cropping them, uploading them and linking them up.

At any time any one wants to submit info, please do. If we have a mob in the db that needs a map marker, send us a crop shot of the map with the mob marked and we will add it in. No matter whether something has been marked or not, the map will still show, that is just how it is set up in the database.

If anyone has time and wants to snap shots and do some cropping for item icons that would save some time. Ditto for how your new gauntlets look on your character, or that rare mob you saw that we don't even have in the db yet.

And we are going to need some help on the quests, so get in there and come back and tell us what we are missing, etc. You can find a link to Berek's very well written submission guide in the FAQ.

The map markers don't work for me, and others are probably having the same problem. When I first load a map, all the markers are shifted about half a page off to the right, off the map entirely. If I reload the page, they show up on the map. But then if I mouse over the map all the markers shift again. That's in IE6, and there's a similar problem in Netscape.

The answer is not to tell me to use Firefox, so don't go there :).
