Just the key won't help you. You would need their discs as well since the client can't be downloaded anywhere. Don't think anyone wants to mail you their discs so you'll need to purchase the game or find a friend close by.

He did say he downloaded the beta client though, which should still work. Where he got it, I don't know. There is no more official download of it, maybe something un-official? Either way though, Turbine should really consider putting a download of the game client up like WoW has. So many people have friends online nowadays they would want to give the key too, but you can't download the client... Oh well.

All that said, there have been a couple threads like this already, and a couple people were willing to give out their keys if you wrote something like a 600 word essay about why you wanted it. Maybe you should contact them and see if anyone has taken them up on that yet? It's been awhile since the offers were made, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

Indeed, I do have the beta client installed which I am told would work. Thanks for the replies and if anyone has an extra key I would still appreciate it.

Thank you.

Actually this was not a scam. I was in need of a key however no one was willing to share one so I took the plunge and bought the game. It's awesome, worth every penny. Please don't be so quick to judge in the future, not everyone is out to get you. See you in game!
