But I was wondering if anyone has a buddy pass that they would spare so I can get a 10-day trial. It would be lovely. Oh wait...do you have to have the CDs for that? I have the beta thing, does that work?

The beta client will work for playing the retail game, however you miss out on several things and it may change soon actually... I think the beta client may only work atm because of the grace period given to founders to enter their keycodes. Hard to say for sure though.

As for the buddy key, there was another thread here about some people being willing to give away their key. Now, the post is a fairly old one, so it's hard to say if the person still has it or if someone took him up on his offer. However, it never hurts to try right?
