Anyone know if a model viewer exists for this game yet, or if anyone is working on one?

im sure its not the same thing but you can use the "dressing room" feature...
simply hold Ctrl+Left Mouse Click on a piece of clothing and it will bring up a window showing you what you will look like wearing it.

Nope, not the same thing, but I did only find out about that feature recently, and it is definitely cool.

What I'm talking about is a program that can load any of the models in the game (this is external to lotro), and you see them on a solid-colored background. Typically, you can also run through the different animations available on that model as well. This lets you do things like create custom signatures, without having to manually cut the model out of a screenshot.

These programs exist for FFXI and WoW (and probably many others, but I know those two have them). I'm sure someone will make one eventually, or Turbine will come out with it on their own, I'm just wondering if a project is currently underway. =)

I happened upon this thread because I was wondering the very same thing.

It would be massively cool if someone could write one up for us.

You still have to have the data files on your PC to be loaded though, or you'd have to receive them everytime from the server which just wont work that well. So, it's probably more a matter of cracking the encoding.

Yeah, all of the models, textures, etc are stored locally. They'd have to be, or you couldn't run the game. The server just tells your PC which files to load. I'm sure someone will figure it out, I just was hoping it was already done. =)

Basically, we're less concerned about reading our own characters' data with this program. All we'd need to know is which race, facial structure, etc, we used, and the equipment we're wearing, and the program could render the same thing, without the need for looking at the LotRO servers to discover what we have on now.
