I even installed the card myself. Of course, I'll have to wait and see how well I did that, but so far so good!

With a vid card, it either works or it doesn't... if it wasn't installed correctly you'd have known about it straight off. So I'd have to say that if it's working so far, then you did a bang up job... grats!

Well, when I shut down the game, my computer crashed. Might not be related to my vid card, but I'm not all that optimistic actually :D

And now I'm constantly worried about my computer temp that's at about 50°C. Mostly because I only have a 300watt power supply and the card in theory requires a 350 one.

Ah well, it'll work itself out I suppose.

Running some kinda Athlon, I forgot, it's pretty fast though. 2 gigs of RAM. Just bought a GeForce 8800 GTS over the weekend and a Gateway 24" wide-screen LCD. All settings are as high as they can possibly go, plus I force FSAA at 8x. Runs smooth as silk. Needless to say, playing LOTRO at 1920x1200 with an insanely high frame-rate with all eye candy maxed = ...brb must change pants.

And can you walk through Bree without any hickups or 'lag', at primetime ?

Yeah, badly when your card fries and you are out of the gaming picture! First thing you need to do, go buy a 500W PS ASAP.

Seconded!

And I think its best not to rely on the 550W (or whatever PSU that is sometimes included in the price of a new case. They are usually generic, and for the sake of shelling out $100 or so on a 'proper' one, you are going to be doing yourself a HUGE favour in protecting your several hundred (thousand?) dollars worth of Vid cards etc.

I dont think too many people get excited showing off their new 550WPSU's like they do over their new state of the art Vid cards, but a good quality, stable PSU is the thing that supplies good quality stable power to all those w@nkover widgets.

Thermaltake and Silverstone are the first ones that spring to my mind when it comes to quality PSUs'.

Ofcourse, that would be a very bad thing to happen :D

The question would be ofcourse, how easy is it to replace a PS?

Surely how it's used is important too? (at least, that's what they keep saying to me anyway)

With or without killing yourself? Smiley: lol

Joking aside, it's very easy to do really. Just a few screws and wires which only go one way into sockets are all that connects the PSU to the PC. Putting in a new PSU is probably one of the easiest things in PC building. The thing you have to watch out for is to not open the PSU itself, and make sure it is unplugged. Even when unplugged it can still hold some charge, so be careful not to stick metal tools in it or touch exposed wires.

Sounds doable, I'll try it out then!

So, if you don't hear from me for a while, there might be a reason for that :p

I wouldn't say "without any", because there's still latency from the internet or the servers themselves which causes hiccups. Turning everything down to minimal I would still get those every now and then. My framerate does drop a bit in Bree when there's a ton of people around, but it still runs smooth.
