Hey there! As you most know, I am very new to the game. Was curious as to a few things. I'm leaning strongly toward the Hobbit/Burglar combination. Any advice, tips, things I need to know? Second I heard that Landroval would the be the server with the most prevalent roleplaying, correct? Lastly, as far as naming goes. Are there surnames in the game? And was needing some advice on a good solid, roleplayable hobbit name, to fit in the with the world. Kind of stuck on that. Thanks for all the continued help, guys!

EDIT: Left a word out.

When you go to the character create menu, there is a blurb about common name prefixes and suffixes for your chosen race/gender.

Surnames are available at level 15 iirc, if not someone will correct me. It costs a few silver in-game to get one.

For a good Hobbit surname, try one of the dozens of well known ones (see Bilbo's Eleventy-one birthday speech!). Most of these names are borne by NPCs in the game (plus a few others).

Hi!

I myself am just new to the game as I bought it about a week ago. I cannot comment much on burglars as I have only tested one out for a few levels. However, I think a hobbit burglar would be best, considering their racial modifiers seem to fit a burglar more than a human does. It is hard to see what server is 'more' RP than another, so I cannot comment on whether Landroval is more than any other, and also Landroval is a US server (correct?) so I really cannot comment there :)

As for naming... you can purchase surnames in game when you reach a certain level (I can't remember what level exactly, I think its about 30?) for purely social reasons. The game itself gives you guidelines for naming when you come to create you character, which is very useful. It does require a bit of imagination on your behalf but the way it tells you the endings and beginnings of some example names helps point you in the right direction.

If it helps, many Hobbit names come from Frankish origin (Meriadoc, Pippin, Drogo, Samwise for instance) and this site here has a Frankish name generator which may help you somewhat :)

Hope I have been of some help :)
