I started with a man. I thought I'd be boring and unoriginal for my first character. The beginning was cool and I was impressed with every thing about the game... then I created an Elf just to see if the starting points were different and they WERE! Wow thats awesome. So I went back to my human and played for a while, did a lot of the Combe quests then I decided to take a right instead of a left and then... BAM! There's freaking Bree! The whole damn town! Sprawled out in front of my eyes. So I kept on going... then I got to the Shire. I tell you I nearly died. I have NEVER, EVER freaked out so much over a game before. I was literally taking a screen shot a second. It IS the Shire. Its not like the Shire. It IS the place. This game rocks my world. I was so excited for it and it hasn't disappointed me. The community is friendly (when they aren't teleporting off to distant locales) and the game play is terrific. DID I MENTION THE EPIC LANDSCAPES? *faints*

You'll also find the opening game different for dwarves and hobbits. (4 different starts, one for each race, oh my!)

Just wait till you wander into the Old Forest or stumble across a view of Weathertop for the first time (hehehe)

Possibly the best thought out and executed zone in the game... possibly in ANY game!

I'd agree. I am continually finding myself stopping what I'm doing in game to check out the scenery or the sky at night. While they used a lot of autofill and all, I do have to say that the game is absolutely breathtaking. For me, a big part of an MMO in the background. I'm not a big social butterfly, I don't group a whole lot but I do love to explore. And seeing the transitions and scenery change the way it does really makes me look forward to finding that new area.

I gotta agree to a point. looks beautiful, plays well... But its no FFXI, its a fixed version of WOW if u ask me. I'm on a Buddy Key account atm and i'll 90% buy the game next week.

P.S this might be a stupid question but does this game have a Wizard class? or is it unlockable later on?

There is no Wizard class, it doesn't fit with the lore, there were only 5 in the books.. and do we really want 30000000 Gandalf wanna be's running all over the place?

I think you definitely need to have an appreciation for Tolkien and Middle-Earth to really, REALLY enjoy this game. I mean its easy to like the game, but to really love it you need to understand things about it. E.G. is the guy above who called it a 'fixed WoW' then promptly asked why there isn't a wizard class (or something). Prime example. This isn't like WoW at all. They share similarities, but so do all computer games. Thats like saying... *thinks of an example* a certain FPS is similar to another FPS because you shoot guns and kill aliens. You know? I've played UO, WoW, Guild Wars and so far LOTRO is the best of the lot by far. I'm so involved in the world and with my character its scary. But then remember I love all the Middle-Earth books (Hobbit, LOTR, Sim) which is probably why I prefer it over all the other MMO's.
