What type of iron are you looking for? Barrow-iron, rich iron, or dwarf iron?
#3 Jul 05 2007 at 10:04 AM Rating: Decent
Actually any kind of iron ore.

Barrow-iron can be found in Northern Bree-fields, southern part of North Downs, and western part of Lone Lands. It can also be found in the Barrow Downs and Andrath near Bree, as well as the area north of Brokenborings in the Shire.

Rich Iron can be found in the eastern part of Lone Lands and Western part of Trollshaws, as well as northern and eastern portions of North Downs. Haven't been to Evendim yet, but would guess you'll find Rich Iron there too.

I haven't leveled to the point where I'm finding a lot of Dwarf Iron yet, but I'd assume you'd find it in Eastern Trollshaws. Perhaps others can add their experiences?

You can find dwarf iron in the western areas of Evendim, where the mobs get a little higher in level.

Dwarf iron (and ancient iron) is also found in Misty Mountains.

There's also a lot of ore to be found in the Ettenmoors if you want to risk it. It's rather rich in both dwarf iron and ancient iron. You just gotta watch your back for wargs 'n spiders 'n orcs, oh my!

I might risk that actually, I'm almost lvl 31 and have found a total of 3 dwarf iron ores. That's good for one bar. According to my own calculations (short only, I do play for fun!), I'll need 200 ore for my lvl 31 armour set.

Very odd that the ore is so hard to find one lvl before I need so much of it.

Best place for barrow iron would be the North Downs imo, found loads of it there. It depends on the level ofcourse.

North Downs is also a good spot for rich iron and especially gold, doing quests near Esteldin got me several stacks of gold and rich iron.

The only thing is to even get into ettenmoors you need to be level 40 minimum. Only way to get there is via swift-travel which is level 40.

Actually, a few of the "senior" creeps were chatting about how a couple of level 2 burgs lead charges against them unstealthed. Warthag named them, but I can't remember their names. Oddly enough, a Captain with a summoning horn can summon anyone of any level to the Ettenmoors.

I have noticed some sub-40s there (but no level 2s hehe). If we (Creeps) do see any of those, they are usually targeted first for easy (easier?) infamy...
