I am currently tossed up between vanguard and wow, I really like how in vanguard I can get a house, boat, and horse at lvl 10, It looks really nice but I'm not sure about the new look on classes.

Anyway Just looking to see what people think of vanguard, I already know what ppl think of WoW

I like Vanguard, but that's probably obvious looking at who's doing the posting around here. Smiley: tongue

I didn't play WoW for more than the 10 day trial. I think the characters, the character personalization tool and especially the characters movements are one of the best aspects of the game, though indeed, much less cartoonish than WoW.

I hope vg comes around but if you ask me its a sinking ship soon to face the same fate as auto-assault. For the sake of knowing the game will still be there to play for years to come id say go with wow if you like that type of game. As vg has a very rocky unsertin future. Its realy hard to say what will happen with it on one hand it could get some much needed fixes and take off and do well but on the other hand it could continue its path to a shut down of servers.

Idk I do hope it pans out for vg but im not sticking around to see. Back to ffxi with my azz :P

its a shame about vanguard really, graphically, its a beautiful game, though i wish the horses could swim too, as they do in oblivion, i found it annoying that the smallest of streams would cause your mount to instantly vanish.. WOW may not have Vanguards graphics, but it plays on most machines, and there are always plenty of players around to help you.

I'm STIll having an incredibley satisfying time playing Vanguard. There are not many people playing, but when I do group (maybe once a week), it's kind of like a special treat and is always lots of fun. Between those grouping moments, I'm still exploring, getting lots of solo quests done, doing diplo quests (which I actually read all the text on) and harvesting for cash. Think I'm going to start the Shadowhound quest. My cheek-pinching cute gnome would look a bit more prestigious atop a big scary Shadowhound.

What currently bothers me is not hearing a word about any additional content coming out.....bad omen.

it is probably because SOE have recently taken over Vanguard, that there is no new content, yet, eventually they'll pick up the pace, but i guess their still sorting things out at their end. only being able to group once a week or so, i guess the servers are emptier than i thought, in WOW at least you get to group whenever you want to, several times a day anyway, most people group just for a specific quest, or group of quests, though im guessing that Vanguard would be the same if there were more players, hopefully people will pick up the game more, the biggest problem is that because Vanguard needs a relatively high spec computer to play at a decent resolution, it puts a lot of people off, i can play WOW on my laptop without any problems, which is great for me, but Vanguard won't run on it, or at least, not playably. its a shame really because Vanguard definitely is one of the most beautiful games i've seen for a long while, and it has horses :D

Vangaurd really doesn't need that great of a computer. I play with a 2.4ghz processor, 768mb ram and a geforce 6600. I have to turn graphics down but i can play easily. From what i understand in Update two they are merging servers, fixing a TON of bugs and trying to get the game going in the right directions. at level 20 i'v still only explored about 1/4 of 1 continent. There is so much content there they really don't need to add more, except maybe more raid content.

well, both our computers have xp home, but only one of them can run vanguard.

the one that can run it is

amd 64 3.4ghz
1.5gb ram
nvidia 6800 gt 256mb
audigy2

the one that can't is;

pentium m 2.1ghz
1.0 gb ram
radeon x300 128mb
mobo generic sound.

both can run WoW on high resolutions though.
no doubt in a years time, the first computer will be considered entry level at best, but the problem is that currently, Vanguard requires a decent computer in order to play it, WoW makes good use of existing technology, and relies more on better gameplay than better graphics.

cloudance VG is built on the old graphic engine for the EQ line updates no? this should come as little surprise that VG is a system hog when it comes to playability.

no its not. it's based on a very (poorly) modified version of the Unreal 2.5 engine.

doesnt surprise me, the graphics in eq2 and the ones in vanguard arent all that similar, though their both system hogs, eq2 seems fairly stable at the moment, vanguard has a slight crash to desktop problem, i've yet to run it for 2 hours without it crashing, with an 'uncrecoverable error' kind of thing, i reboot and relaunch (playing it safe basically).
Only, now that there are only 4 servers, and one of those is a pvp FFA, which one is most likely to have euro zone players on, if any?

WoW players can get laid. True story.

One of Vanguard's main problems, the only way to update your game is through the launchpad. Which, if there's the tiniest interruption (which wireless networks always have) it'll stop downloading the patch (Won't actually say stop, but the timer will go from 9 hours to 131 hours).

If they could fix that POS thing it might be better.
