Confused Trader.. (Droid Engineer)Follow

#1 Jul 10 2007 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
Ok my main problem is that I cant ever seem to find worth while resources..

Mainly Chemical, I can never seem to find a large consintration of good Fiberplast on any planet.

also where should I place my mineral extractors and just any extractor.

I am trying to make the best Swoop Speeders I can but can only get about 20% Durability, and now my extractor shut down and would only let me change resource not get the same one that gave me 20% durability.

Help?!?!

Um..

Let me see. You're getting 20% Durability Experimentation. Using a resource which is completely consumed.

What small evidence I can gather and try to make out the picture...here we go.

Resources and your Artisan/Droid skills (experimentation/assembly/etc.) determine your points and quality on the experimentation rolls in the session.

Depending on which level you are, most likely you're maxing out at 20% top, if you're 90, you're just not using the right resources.

Tips:

1) Use a decent Weapon/Droid/General Crafting Station. Functional Rate 41.00+ will help you keep a good rate at 'Great Success' ratio.

2) Use as many Luck boosting materials as possible (Food/Drink/Items/Modded Clothing and Armor). This will increase your Assembly bonus in which will give a small percent increase before you actually start the experiment session.

3) Expertise, put some points into the Artisan/Droid Tree-line.

4) Resources. Swoop resource bonus percentages are based off 'Shock Resistance' value. It takes Ferrous (Steel and Iron I know for sure) and Non-Ferrous (Copper and Aluminum for sure). Find these resources in those categories with at least 900+ Shock Resistance quality.

5) Try to make or buy a Weapon/Droid/General Crafting tool that has a Functional Rate of 15.00.

With your chemical, it's hard to come by decent Overall Quality since it's kind of a rare resource but don't give up. Sooner or later you will find what you're looking for.

Good luck.

the life of a trader isnt all about making things, at least half the time your out there searching for the illusive high quality resources, and believe me, a high rated resource at 30 percent volume is way better than a medium or worse rated 80 percent or higher, unless of course, your just grinding out your profession still. to be honest, this is where combat levels are actually a major hindrance to traders, before, we didnt used to draw agro, but now anything and everything suddenly has the need to eat a trader. i got around this by using an entertainer to survey with, although the surveying ability of a entertainer isnt all that good, at least you dont draw agro - its an opt-in for entertainers, drama ents draw agro, artiste ents do not. the only other option is for you to take a bodyguard, or at least a combat droid backup, which as a DE you should be able to make a decent CL66 droid, the one thing you dont want to do though, is buy resources, if you have to, then your builds will be even more expensive because of it, probably putting them into a price range where players just wouldnt be interested in buying.

Ok thank you both, that helped=)

Also how much should I sell droids for?

I am only 35 right now. But I deffenitly will get some Luck Boosts I thought they only worked in combat. I have some armor for my trader but I know less about armor then I do about the Trade Profession.

Also I noticed that resources change with out warning, whats that all about? Also are certin types of say Steel better then others or at some times some are better then others?

It really depends on what kind of droid you are making. Unfortunately, selling 'capped' out droid types willing won't be viable until you are 90. At this point, if you are busting for money, best to make sub-components for other Trader professions. Good ideas are Energy Distributors (sp?) and Power Conditioners, I believe that are used by Structure division to create different style of housing deeds. Honestly, I really can not say for sure.

Luck effects much more then combat Attributes. Pretty much nearly everything in the game has some form of a 'luck' value, list is too long to name them all. However, do not worry about armor really. Any crafted clothing or armor that has a socket available to them you can attach an Skill Enhancement Attachment (SEA) that provides an Attribute. Remember, as a Trader you are not relying on combat other then trying to find a good resource spawn and clear nests.

Again, I personally believe (just me), that resource qualities will always be generated at random no matter what type it is. My theory being it is to counter 'flavored' items. Most of the time, you just have to make do with what you have. Other times, you will get lucky and find great values worth to crafting or marketing.

Alot of work is investing in trading, just depends on how determined you are.

Unfortunately resources run out on every planet, and usually just after you have discovered and started to mine it :). You could try using swgcraft, people post the type and quality of resources on there quite regularly for each planet.
