Help: Guardian or MinstrelFollow

#1 Jul 10 2007 at 11:29 PM Rating: Decent
From what I understand, these are the two classes that many servers lack. I was wondering which one is played less. Is it Guardian or Minstrel?

Minstrels are always needed, if you're looking for a class that is always wanted it's Minstrels.

Mind you, Guardians are usually asked as well though. It is the pure tank class after all.

So in reponse to your question, I haven't a clue. But there are hardly ever enough healers.

Alot of content can be done with a properly equipped(translation:using a shield) champion tanking. A minstrel is pretty much always wanted, if not needed. If a group of 5 players, say a champion, a burgler, and 3 hunters is looking for a sixth and they need to choose between a guardian and a minstrel, they're going to take the minstrel every time.

You'll be needed whichever class you decide on, but I think you'll get even more invites with a minstrel.

You'll also be a primary target if you ever go to the Ettenmoors as a Minstrel, so don't take it to heart if you think the creeps are picking on you. Because we are. But it's not because of who you are, but what you are.

That didn't help much, did it?

I'd have to agree here to an extent actually... if you're just looking for a lot of invites Lore Masters are really wanted, and not a lot of people play them. I forget how long ago, but I know awhile back there were something like under 100 active LM on Meneldor who were playing and semi-high level.

Hence my making one, which I plan on playing tonight.

Hmm. What do Loremasters offer in a party scenario? Also, thanks for the replies thus far.

Loremasters are a support class. They have morale heals and maybe more importantly they have power heals. Also they can mez enemies and have a few other debuff skills. Ive seen them solo stuff that as a guardian I cant solo.

Loremasters: secondary healer (keep Minstral alive), ability to drain the mobs mana (thus recovering loremasters mana in battle to enable the Loremaster to replenish the other group members mana pool in battle), and the Loremaster can mezz one of the creatures the group is fighting (group is fighting one less mob)

More groups should let the loremaster pull in situations where 2 mobs could possibly argo. Loremaster can stun one and the other mob will run to the group.
This would allow all group members to instantly know which mob to attack (the one running to the group)so they are all fighting the same mob. By splitting the two mobs the group can use area effect attacks and not unmezz the creature that was stunned still standing in its original spot.

Last night in misty mts at the giant stronghold I was able to take the minstral from empty to full mana in about 3 sec with 2 casts of replenish mana at level 42. The minstral knew he could count on me to toss a heal to replenish his (HP's) whenever it was low. Keeping the minstral alive keeps the group alive.
