The trial is more often than not the full game, but you get yourself 14 days free*. After which, you pay to continue your character advancement.

And quoted from the download page that's linked :

"This is the full game download for anyone with a trial key for The Lord of the Rings Online EUROPEAN game"

* Don't quote me on the length of free period. Usually trials come with 14 days.
Refer to your specific key. But a buddy key or a full account key will make it the full game with just a click of the mouse.

Currently, the only way to get the game via download is the trial. It includes the low-res textures only as well. In order to get the "full" game with all the texture packs, it will need to be purchased.

I didn't realise there was a difference in textures.Does that mean that if the person who uses the trial client wanted to goto full game they would have to buy the discs, or by purchase, do you mean, subscribe?

That's correct. If you subscribe you do indeed get the full game in the trial but the hi res graphics are only on the disks. Which means you would need to buy the box version as well as pay for the subscription.

Although I started in closed beta and had the low res stuff when I subscribed after release, I bought the full game and reinstalled for that reason alone. It is well worth it.

Actually if that download is 5.5 gigs it might include the hi-rez textures now... the beta was only 3ish and the hi-rez pack was 1.2ish... so maybe they changed it...

Question/Topic
How do I download the The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar client digitally?

Answer/Article
This download is a low resolution version of the retail copy of The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar created for people who have a 10-Day Buddy Key or do not have a DVD-ROM drive available.

Before you begin downloading The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, please make sure that you meet the Minimum System Requirements.

Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows® XP
Processor: Intel Pentium® 4 1.8 GHz or equivalent
RAM: 512 MB
Video: 64 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 3 or ATI® Radeon® 8500
Disk Space: 7 GB available
DirectX: DirectX® 9.0c
Optical Drive: 2x DVD-ROM
Internet: 56kbps Modem

Recommended System Requirements

OS: Windows® XP / Vista
Processor: Intel Pentium® 4 2.8 GHz or equivalent
RAM: 1 GB Video: 128 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® FX 6800
Disk Space: 10 GB available
DirectX: DirectX® 9.0c
Optical Drive: 2x DVD-ROM
Internet: Broadband DSL/Cable

Note: If you are running below 512MB of memory, you will need to run in Low or Very Low graphics or you will experience a lot of memory thrashing.

Additionally: If you are running below any of these requirements you may encounter graphical issues or poor overall performance.

So it is 5.5Gb but it's only the low res textures with the downloaded version. The initial download is a small 1.26Mb file that activates the Turbine launcher it looks like.

Well he did say that was the Europe version Smiley: wink maybe they get the high rez version over there :( I know the beta was only 3.5ish gig total... so either they included it, or they added the new area which wasn't 2.0 gigs I don't think... meh who knows I have the DVD's so I'm never downloading it again anyway Smiley: tongue
