why me....

K, so i just installed..logged on. Chose me a loremaster..then... crash after crash. Just random restarts. I had the same prob on WOW..it was a overheating issue..but fixed it with another fan. Then again i used hardware sensors and it says my Mainboard temp is really high. Would that be the issue? Has anyone else had the same prob as me? If so, howd you fix it. I need ideas. Im buying a big fan tomorrow and putting it right onto my pc..see if that helps. Any input would be awsome.

Ty for any help

Hello rabzdguy!

Would it be possible to send us an image of the inside of your case? If we can get a visual look it will help us to see if something might be causing an overheating issue.

Thanks,
Berek

I had a similar rebooting problem, only when playing an LM. Check this thread for more information:

Few things here.

In regards to cooling in the case, do you have thermal paste on the chip between it and the heatsink or just the heatsink? Either way, I would recommend cleaning off the old paste and adding some Arctic Silver thermal paste. It's great for pulling heat off the chip. For the heatsink on the chip, is it the stock heatsink or a specialized one? I would advice a copper cored heatsink here, as copper cores tend to help lower heat issues as well.

In regards to case fans, I would advise an 80mm in the front and an 80mm at the back at the very least to provide a consistent airflow for the box. And I would also recommend switching to rounded cables for your hardware (floppy, CD-ROM and HDD). They help cut down blocking airflow and can help keep the system cooler.

For the power supply, what is the power rating on it and does it have a fan underneath or just in the back?

For the overall placement of the PC, where do you have it sitting and has it been blown out with compressed air lately?

Even though he's mentioned a previous issue with his computer and heat, I would bet it's not a heat issue but more along the lines of a crashing driver issue. Since he's mentioned he's crashing with the Loremaster it's probably his 'Burning Embers' spell. It can crash your comp if you're not using an up to date OpenAL wrapper. I was crashing like crazy before finding the fix.

There are instructions on checking and fixing that issue at the thread in my previous post.

Course... I could be wrong. ;-)
