this story is gonna seem a bit...bizzar but it is completely true and i want revenge lol

see i was minding my own buisness doing some quests when all of a sudden i get this tell from a human named '-' -'- he said hello and i asked how did you get that name? (beings humans[or any species at that] cant have that name)
he told me well once i tell you youll be in for a suprise..
then he said to me my character is hacked i hacked into the game playing it for free and i can taake anything off of any vendor without having to pay.
and i was suprised at this but he told me after that,"in fact as soon as you log off..im gonna hack you to! thats right im gonna hi-jack your account"
after i told him no you wont cuz im gonna delete this alt as soon as possible b4 you can even do that. he said well see, i quickly got to the char selection screen and deleted my current alt therfore my account was saved and after many weeks i am now writing this post.....now what i need help with is....
1: how do i report someone whos name does not even show up on soe's lists?
( i KNOW he doesnt show up on their lists other wise he probably wouldnt have said to me that and i think soe would have caught him by now)
2: that alt i had to delete was my best alt and had many things that i just couldnt afford to lose...is there ANY way possible i can get him back?

a csr is your only hope for deleted items but to be honest i cant see them helping you with out evidence of what happened.

What you should of done was screen grab the chat and the player in question and use the report system within the game.

Of course they might not of been able to do anything to the player, but at least you would of had evidence.

Althou i have to say in the 3 years i been playing i've heard of accounts being hacked, but thats usually been thou getting station user names and passwords throu various methods, never actually heard a story such of yours.

my guess is he was bluffing, i seriously doubt anyone can hack your account by just knowing a character name, most people who get there accounts "hacked" likely gave there info out to someone.

as for you character, it may be possible, if you contact a csr, or SOE customre service you may get your character back, but i seriously doubt that aswell, so dont get your hopes up

I think there is a 1 week grace period to get your deleted character back... after that, I dont think they can revive him.

I have never heard of anything like that before. Someone once was able to view a private chat i was having with someone through either hacking or something else but you could try to contact SOE costomer service.

as far as i know the only way that accounts have been hacked in the past, is when they hijacked the forum login and got some of the players login details that way. not aware of any way in which they can get the details from within the game itself.

I heard it is 10 days to restore a deleted character. Contact a CSR by putting in a ticket.

Well he did actually hack IN-game. he used somthing out of the game. i dont quite recall what it was somthing involving the internet. but i needed to be off line for him to do it as he said. so im guessing he used a ifferent computer. I know he was a hacker cuz i sent a tell to him but it didnt go through. then he sent me a tell and the only way i could commuicate with him was by repalying.

i know you can hack the diffrent chat channels in the game. how you do it not sure my self but i do know it's done mainly the imps and rebs channel. and i don't mean someone on there alt watching a channel and telling what they heard. but as for what your saying you should have sent in a ticket and then see what he did. go around and take screen shots of your stuff and chat logs, and if he was able to do something then thats more evedince for your case. soe should have someway of tracking it's population so he would have to show up somewhere.

The only way he could have gotten into your account is to hack your PC first. He has to have your IP, open a portal, which Galaxies could act as a conduit. Then find a way to view encypted data. Most people with those skills are not going to hacking games...think about it. What for? Is there money in? There is the fun factor....but it will get old quick for someone with real skill....you know..."I wonder if I can do it?" Those who clam they can hack are usually kids with a small ammount of skill or adults that have the most skill of thier little group(which doesn't mean a whole lot), But all the same cover yourself. On top of submitting a ticket get a router....you can control all inbound&outbound communication. Hell, my son can't even go to a porno site unless I allow it, and a security program, thats to keep neophites off your PC. Never use default PC names or logins. Change all User names and password to yours and your alone, and go old school...write them down, down let your OS save your passwords...bad practice anyway. I do work for an ISP and this is advice I give when I work. I used to hack in my time, and know hackers now. There really isn't any reason for an experienced hacker to risk exposure hacking a world wide game....he show up as a blip....and then he gets watched by various agenceies.....no hacker wants that. They want to stay in the backround. Where they can work and possibley make money honestly or not. Your credit card numbers on on your computer unless you clear those saved files. Which most people don't. Remember that....thats what most hackers want...your money to buy better hardware...faster gear, not your SWG password. He wants your IP so he can piggy back on it so her hack do some damage and you take the hit, or hide a small partition on your PC if you keep it up 24/7 and run a kiddie **** server off of it....again your IP and you take the hit. You see there are other things a hacker may want, but just so you know.......you have to give his access in someway. click on something from him, accept an IM from him(AIM,Yahoo,ICQ,MSN messenger)<--a personal fav, or install a program. There are otherways to get in but you have to leave the door open. All I'm saying is protect yourself. Be careful on what you install offline, and who you talk too. In game the only one that has your IP in Sony...if thier severs are compromised is a baaaaaaaaaad omen for that company. That would mean the end of the online game buisness until they purged the whole server for all their games. *sighs* /takes off geek coat. I'M ON VACATION!!! Leave me alone....I have adult beverages to drink, and an ocean to swim in. Stop asking questions I can add too!...ROFL
