Advice for possible new playerFollow

#1 Aug 02 2007 at 12:19 PM Rating: Decent
As a WOW player I have become interested in LOTRO's. I have read a little but would like to know what the best combination is for a female healer. On WOW I have a dwarf priest. I really enjoy healing. My main on WOW is a lvl 70 Gnome Mage.

Any advice?

I would say be a Dwarf or Hobbit Minstrel.

Minstrel is the only true healing class in LOTRO. Captains and Loremasters get some limited healing abilities, but Minstrel is going to be your best bet. All 4 races can be Minstrels, and whichever race you choose will do fine. I think Hobbits begin with the best base stats for Minstrel, but gear and levels quickly make base stats unimportant.

All the servers are pretty similar in population, ect. at the moment. We have a Allakhazam poster kinship on Meneldor, which is where I play. Good server, nice folk on it mostly, a few twats here and there, but hey, you can't avoid that in MMOs.

Yes, you would have a hard time playing a female dwarf minstrel...:).

Minstrels are the main healer but they are also quite capable of dealing damage. I regularly solo my dwarf minstrel. At level 31 he can solo level 37 boars in Trollshaws, I was quite surprised to find out.

Although with a minstrel you will not lack for demand in groups which is also nice.

I'm also looking to migrate to LOTR but I was wondering if the items bind to you like in WoW or do you have people camping certain mobs 24/7 for the drop to sell? Do you have multiple groups competing in the same dungeon for the boss?

Most items that drop are "BoE" which stands for "Bind on Equip"...so you have the choice to sell it...but obviously if you equip it then its bound to you.

All quest items are "BoA" which stands for "Bind on Acquire"...and while rare, there are a few BoA drops in the game...mainly "Keys" or items that are in the raid zone.

Some dungeons, are open instances to the public...so you actually might find multiple groups inside them working on completing quests. Other dungeons are "private" instances, which means that each member of the group has to be at that specific point in a quest chain (or already completed it) to enter.

If you've already completed a dungeon instance there is a cool feature that lets you replay it so you can help your buddies.

Things I sometimes play...

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"I want to be a unicorn!"
"Awww, why's that?"........
"So I can stab people with my face."

LOTRO Meneldor server
There is No Fifth Star
Zakthan Elf Hunter-43
Tyrlar Man Champion-10
Anders Hobbit Minstrel-9

Zakthar Uruk Blackarrow

What is the Kinship name? I am on Meneldor now. I would be interested in getting
in. Have an almost 50 Burglar (Hobbit), and also a level 20 Burglar
(Human). Few other alts as well (retired 50 Lore-master). I 2 box from
time to time, except in nasty instances :P

EDIT: NVM, I see it now. Who do I need to send a tell to for an invite?

You can send a tell to Flosli, Durskaldir, Dyadem, Kitca, Yanari or any of about a million others :) I am on most nights after 7:30 or 8:00pm PST and other officers are on at various times. Just make sure you preface the tell with something we will recognize, like "hey there, this is so and so from alla's. Can I get an invite?" or similar. Lot of beggars in the game start off with just "hey" so we tend to not reply to them right off.
