Spamming Gold SellersFollow

#27 Oct 03 2007 at 1:00 PM Rating: Good
Reporting is a two-edged sword. For every ticket you create, Turbine will send you an e-mail, thanking you for using the system.

I gave Turbine my spammed up e-maill addy so it doesn't really bother me.

I found this quite ironic, report spamming in-game and get spammed by the game producer.

I would like the option of clicking on the person's name and pulling a menu that says: "sending spam tells". When this message gets more than 10 hits on a counter in 2 minutes, they can disable the spammer. Auto-magic! And please don't send me e-mail thanking me, I will do it for no kudos :)

Fwiw, Turbine does take a very hardline stance on these maggots. If this helps any for those of you who may be "on the fence" about reporting, I recently had occasion to run into 2 lvl 50 "farm bots" for a gold seller or two. They were in Imlad Balchorth running the same pattern over and over and over. After watching them for a few hrs, I reported them both. And Turbine banned them both.

Identical names, same basic gear (think mostly quested purp0les and yellows, 1 or no blues, no legendary traits, etc etc). That was back on 09/28/07. I added them to my friend list so I could watch and see what happened. As of today, they are offline, both having gone offline within one minute of each other approximately an hour after I reported them. I ahve found that when I add gold spammers and bots to my friend list, they tend to remain in my list even after being banned.

The process does work, it just takes time and a commitment to our game community to support each other and help each other by reporting both buyers and sellers. This will send a clear message each time it's reported that these kinds of losers are NOT wanted on our game.

/applaud

Dottiel applauds Flosli heartily.

For me it is much more gratifying to hear stories like this rather than the 'We can not discuss any action taken' messages from Turbine.

You are truly clever putting them on your friends list (keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer) to keep an eye on them.
