I was in EB games and I saw the special/collector edition for 34$, so I picked it up. I played the beta so I have a general idea of what the game entails just a couple quick questions.

1) UI Mods, are there any? What would you recommend.

2) Fifth Star is on Meneldor, right? If so who is still playing on it?

3) Couple months after launch what do you think they have done right, what do you think they've done (not done) wrong.

4) Do the dwarf beard animations still lick balls?

1. Not mods persay, more just reskinning. There is a link to the lotrointerface site right on the main page here on allakhazam.

2. Yes Meneldor, and the kin is pretty active still... Sadly I don't think it's all alla posters anymore and some people just got invited at random from what i've heard/seen. Heck some don't even know what allakhazam is or that they were in the allakhazam guild!

3. For right they have been listening to players and also making lots of tweaks to classes and professions. Wrong I'd have to say that (last I heard) freep PvM was still basically ezmode and creeps don't have a good chance soloing. But maybe the latest patch fixed that, I truthfully don't do PvM right now (on either side)

4. I don't play a dwarf so yea... don't know really.

1. Not really (you can tweak textures etc)

2. Yep. A good few assylumites and some new blood (and btw Tomec - they hadn't heard of Alla when they joined TiNFS but they have now Smiley: wink)

3. Crafting's more slick than in Beta, and the whole Questing/Tolkien lore has become deeper and more immersive.

4. Yes

What's your toon name?

4) Both dwarf and man beards pretty much suck ***. There are a few good ones for each but the longer the beard the more it resembles roadkill.

I have a Dwarf Guardian named Bodhisattva.

I am still playing WoW, in a raid guild clearing tier 5 content, got some [wowitem=30027]shiny new healing boots[/wowitem] tonight.

Still think the hotbars are ugly as hell and I need to tweak some UI/Interface features but I am not complaining and it is solid. Keep an eye out for me.

Welcome back. There have been some changes both plus and minus since you left. Of course you will have to make up your own mind on most of them. Check out Evendim, which many people call Evenswim or Everswim, because there just is too much swimming back and forth between quests, etc. You'll see. Also depends on your class as some got updated recently (Hunters, Captains), and some are in the process of getting updated this month (Lore-masters), others still waiting but not as buggy as the first ones (Burglars, Guardians, and Champions).

See you in Game.........

Heh, spent my evenings in SSC in WoW so haven't gotten much Lotro play time in. My Guardian is lvl 5 now and I am enjoying him.

I still think the UI is absolutely grotesque, it is the same layout/setup just looks ugly as sin. I also think the combat lacks the fluidity of WoW.

Other than that the environments look good, the combat isn't horrible, the questing is fun, looks like a fun game.

The landscapes are good. In some places they are absolutely jaw-dropping.

The combat, once you reach higher levels is also very satisfying. The higher the level, the more combinations become availiable and the effectiveness of those combos become more varied and important. it is possible to keep mashing the same buttons over and over, and still get by, but different combinations have a huge difference dependant on situation, weapon used, group/solo etc. Now Im at 50, I'm finding new methods of making fighting more efficient every time I take on different mobs.

The questing is satisfying once you get away from the 'kill 10 spiders' type. But even they are there for when you can't be bothered getting a group, or you dont have time. ALL my gear was quested gear until the last coupla levels, and it served me well.

It is a fun game. that is also dependant on the people you hang with. But that is the same for any game, no?
