A long time ago I got an Xbox. I got this Xbox for one purpose, and that was Morrowind. Fortunately, I also got two KOTOR games on the system as a bonus. Crazy you say? Well I got 300+ hours out of Morrowind on just the mage save file I did, and only quit because of one little plot wrinkle in one of the expansions (not bloodmoon, the other one) in which I locked myself out of some little sub-plot, so I'm happy with the dollars/time I got out of it.

Anyways,

Fast forward one generation of consoles. I'm getting more and more back into console games as the tight grip of FFXI loosens more each passing month. Friends quit, **** gets old, semester work, etc. I'm not quitting ffxi or anything, but I'm not logged in more than twice a week for most weeks. It's much easier for me to play MP3 for my 3 hours (or so) of downtime per day or Elite Beat Agents in between classes while I'm away from the dormitory, than to try to keep up with ffxi as I used to be.

I figure that by now, many original Xbox games are probably pretty damn cheap, and used also. I'm highly considering digging the thing out of mothballs and hooking it up for some hopefully cheap, but also good, entertainment that I missed while I was so hooked into ffxi during the system's prime, and maybe to bide the time until the Wii gets Fire Emblem and Brawl. It's certainly not the most memorable system for me, but I'm sure that it's got some good titles out there also.

It might help to know my specific genres of interest; basically, I'm highly attuned to RPGs, SPRGs, strategey (real time or turn based) adventure (or adventure rpgs), and receptive to other things upon suggestion. Basically I'm looking for recommendations. On my list so far are Fable, and Halo. I figure I might as well at least give Halo a try, and Fable (while I'm not expecting morrowind) got favorable reviews at least.

tl;dr just answer the question in the title

Srsly. Ninja Gaiden. Preferrably Ninja Gaiden Black.
If you haven't played this, you haven't played on an Xbox.

yay! a good long list

I picked up Fable today for 10 bucks. Looking for Thief, Ninja Gaiden and Jade Empire right now, and a few of thsoe other titles look pretty nice.

The bad thing is that even a used halo is 25 dollars now thanks to the Halo 3 release /sigh Prices shot right back up.

Steel Battalion, although I don't expect you can still get your hands on that game due to the high collectors item factor. (It's a awesome Mech sim you have to play with a huge *** dashboard instead of the normal controller.)

Time Splitters: Future Perfect. This shooter has a hilarious single player (also playable at co-op) but the fun really starts with the offline multiplayer. No other game can beat ninja monkeys, clowns and pirates shooting each other up in a Chinese restaurant with fitting background music.

I actually like Jade Empire more than Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2.

Here is my list:

Jade Empire --Played and beat 4 times already
KOTOR 1 and KOTOR II (These are a must and hold 80+ hours of enjoyment plus you can find both for $30 or less)
Deus Ex (AWESOME)
Chronicles of RodRichard: escape from Butcher Bay
Indigo Prophecy
Beyond Good and Evil
Conker Live and Reloaded
Fatal Frame 1 (hard to find but worth the $30)
Fatal Frame II
Silent Hill 4: The Room
Sudeki (Awesome but not well known)
Mechassault II: Lone Wolf
Top Spin (solid tennis sports game)
Links 2004 (Awesome golf game and almost better than Toger Woods which is my all time fave)

Brill has some interesting off the wall choices! Smiley: laugh Indiana Jones??

Monsieur Wootel: Steel Battallion Smiley: laugh Good luck finding that one. Let me know if you want to buy mine for 1k. The game itself sucks, I played it for 3 hours and kept the game and hardware just to look at.

I hate platform games, but I loved the Indiana Jones game. I thought it was fantastic. Alot of people didn't even bother trying Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. It's an absolutely fantastic game. They have Talib Kweli voicing the main character. Also has a great soundtrack. The story is pretty well done also.

Picked up Fable

I'm happy with it so far. I tried very very hard not to listen to all of the awesome reviews and scores about it to avoid disappointment. Unfortunately, some of it must have incorporated into my mind because I still find myself comparing it to Morrowind at every opportunity.. and that's really just not fair, not only to Fable, but to almost any game. That being said, it's still a great game, and not quite as short as I thought it would be. It brought back feelings of the first Baldur's Gate actually, toned down in terms of stats and dice, but the atmosphere is similar. I'll probably end up with around a 17 hour cleartime. Next weekend I'll be getting Jade Empire for sure.

The best part is that my character looks like old Obi-Wan Kenobi. Lots of mage spells + Longish hair and awesome beard + lots of leveling up = awesome jedi thing.

My guy ended up being a skinny powerhouse covered in nothing but scars and tattoos with a giant sword. Try not to get excited Paskil.
