My g/f has picked up on Black and White, which is in every way I can think of an awesome game, if a bit hard to get all the basics down.

If you've never played it, get a copy. You will thank me once you get a handle on the controls and mechanics.

She likes this game a little too much though, I think. The other day, she was teaching her creature Lightning Blast by shooting random villagers and buildings (her own, mind you), and I've never heard her cackle with such glee as when the creature dinged 100% learned, and proceeded to make its mother proud by blasting about 6-7 children that were standing nearby.

This woman desires to be a school teacher, btw....

Great game. I wanted to pick up B&W 2 but haven't had the time. Smiley: thumbsup

I've no idea if it's been patched/fixed in the nineteen bajillion years since its release but wasn't that game released insanely broken and virtually unplayable after a point?

Speaking of old school, I'm back on a Medieval: Total War kick. And I just finished Fallout II Smiley: laugh

You could still beat it, but on one of the last islands, the enemy god had a bunch of wonders set up that basically reversed all your monsters stats. When you destroyed one, it was supposed to restore part of your creature to normal, but it never did. Smiley: lol

I usually just ended up throwing rocks at the opposing village. My hand was dark and cut very quickly.

Shogun: Total War pwnz.

I too have Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics, but haven't taken the time to play them.

Never played Tactics and never really wanted to since it strays from the RPG format.

Personally, I prefered Fallout to Fallout 2. Fallout 2 was much larger and had a lot more going on but the original seemed to grab the "Retro-Future" theme better.

I tried to like B&W but it's combat aspect bugged me, as well as the internal timing that forced you to react to situations. I would've much preferred if the whole game focused only on working with your creature without undue pressure. Made it to the third stage or something then I stopped. Still the creature aspect was brilliant.

Fallout Tactics gets a bad rap, I prefer to play it pretending that it's a unique environment not related to the Fallout universe. For what it was I thought it was decent. Biggest qualm was melee's weakness in TB mode, but RT mode being way too "slamdance" and short on tactics. Enjoyed the multiplayer when it was going.

FO 1 & 2 are in my top ten games, but I prefer 2. Mainly for the length, 1 was kind of short, and for the RPing opportunties. 2 seemed to have a lot more paths for each situation, culminating in the um New Reno (? the mob town) options. Its quests also had more moral dilemma stuff, and I love Avellone's penchant for that.

Baldur's Gate 2 is probably the old school game I replay the most (ahead of Age of Empires/Mythology). Even though I liked 1 better 2 has a lot more replay value. Always good for a time sink, and has some decent mods too.

I think I liked the Icewind Dale games better than Baldur's Gate for the PC.
