It's really a shame to see that Social D, Stevie Ray, Dead Kennedy's and The Who are covers. I'm so hyped. Also, the bonus download songs for Rock Band look tasty.

These are 2 games I'd take with me onto a desert island.

Refresh my memory, the difference between cover and master is?

I thought cover, meant a different band play the song of a another band.

Did you hear their 'Zack de la Rocha' or 'Kurt Cobain'? 'Jello Biafra' sounded nothing like Jello Biafra in Rocks the 80's.

I think they do a good enough job with the covers. There are a few that are off, but they still kick ***.

I agree with this statement. It still makes me sad in my pants to see covers. Smiley: frown Especially if it's a song that pretty much depends on the artist. Also, the way Harmonix took the liberty of editing particular tracks to fit into the game.

See Can't You Hear Me Knocking and Jessica as two prime examples.

That actually looks pretty doable. The G-R-Y-B-O-B-Y-R-G runs are pretty simple once you get the hang of 'em.

The introduction to Through the Fire and Flames is absolutely ridiculous, though. I've got no idea how I'm going to make my way through that one. How the hell do they manage to get G-B-G-R-G-Y-G-B-G-O-G-B-G-O from what's actually being played? I think I'll be able to manage the rest of the song with practice, but that part is just throwing me for a loop.

Also, my school is holding a GH2 competition as part of the dance... the prize? Guitar Hero 3! Thing is, I'm pretty easily the best GH player in the school. I'm not trying to sound arrogant, it's just that I don't believe anyone else has even beaten Six on Expert. Smiley: lol

So, hopefully I'll be getting the game for free, which would be nice.

My friends are amazed when they watch me play. I've only managed to get perfect on one song in expert (Heart Shaped Box). Hell I finally got five stars on Crazy on You the other day. I just tell them: "Go to youtube, I suck man." Smiley: oyvey

I'll never beat Jordan much less Through the Fire and Flames, which looks ridiculous I might add. I have made it about 69% through Jordan.

The only songs on Expert I have been able to get five stars on are the ones you wouldn't expect. I can hit it regularly on the Light That Blinds and Thunderhorse. I can usually hit it on the Beast and the Harlot.

I actually haven't perfected anything on Expert, I just don't have the patience. Last night I broke 10,000 on the XBox Live Career Score leaderboard (out of about 922,000), so that was a pretty nice accomplishment. I'm pretty happy with my GH2 progress, I've come to terms with the fact that I'm never going to manage to beat Jordan on Expert. Smiley: lol At this point, I'm ready to sink my teeth into GH3, get some new material under my belt. Of course, I'll have barely scratched the surface with GH3 by the time Rock Band hits the shelves. Smiley: tongue

Anyone interesting in getting together online for some GH3 co-op? Or battle mode, if you're the competitive type, hehe.

Battle mode just looks meh to me. I guess that would probably be my only way of beating some people out there online. I'm about #22,000 or so last time I checked. I have improved my expert score on a few songs so that might have jumped.
#23 Oct 30 2007 at 5:58 PM Rating: Good
Don't like the battle mode at all so far. Though I wasn't playing online. I was playing against Tom Morello. So far I'm digging the song selections for the the levels etc. Seems a bit more difficult than the last few games. No major problems so far though aside from a crampy hand Smiley: lol [:insert ************** joke here:]

Its much easier than the first 2 games I think. You dont have to be nearly as precise as before.

I blew through it on hard to unlock everything. Tried Dragonforce on Expert, didnt last 10 seconds. So im glad i have a challenge ahead of me.

GREAT game though. I am very happy with it.

I loving the song structures, the note charts are a lot more fun than they were for GH2. It's not quite as chord-orientated, there's a lot more soloing and just fun stuff in general.

I just can't beat that damn intro to Through the Fire and Flames. I've been working on learning how to tap it (that is, using both the right and the left hand on the neck and starting off the sequence with an elbow strum), slowly going up from the lowest speed setting to the highest in practice mode. It's just frustrating as hell because I know I can pass the song once I get the intro down.

its very deceiving too.

i played through it on practice one notch slower and did pretty good through the intro. kicked up a notch and couldnt keep up. Doesnt look hard to me, but hell if i can do it yet.
