When do you do your deeds? Follow

When you first get them, to get the best exp possible? This means you may end up killing another 50-100 during your normal course of being in that zone as well as questing on them (eg, spiders!). I met a few people like this, who grinded out something like orcs then come to find out, they still had to kill plenty of them for some quest line in the zone anyway. They always have that tone of regret of using their time up even if they got much good loot in the process.

Or when the targets you need to kill are kind of green but still give a little exp? So you can kill them fast, but too many of them and you still could die. 50 of one mob doesn’t feel so bad when you can kill them easily. Or maybe when they’re grey but just barely.

Or do you tend to wait till you’re really high up there and decide you want to work on some traits, so you go back to the zones that are now lowbie to you and you mindlessly kill till you finish the deed because a swarm of them could still barely hurt you?

I ususally take into account how many of those mobs there are in the zone. What I usually do when I'm new to a zone I simply load up on quests, do all those that involve massacring, hand them in, see if any new ones pop up, do those, and then start doing the deeds. usually there are those few mobs that are very scarce, and I just run them over when I feel I am done with the zone. By then they are most likely far in the grey. a tedious job really, but it does get you those nice traits :)

I tend to find and acquire all the quests I can for a zone when I first arrive. Then get any traits/deeds I can find and work through it all at once. I don't stay focused on any particular mob but rather focus on working through the quest chains and let the mob count come as a bonus.

The only exception to this is when I have had to go back and pick up a trait/deed tat involved gray mobs. At those times I just find a good spot to stand and grind it out!

BTW - sweet spot on both quest XP and mob XP is yellow/orange. Completing red or purple quests is counter productive and lesser colors also net less XP.

If you find that you are near a shift in color, (about to ding) what you can do is kill the mobs and then wait to turn in the quest till it changes color.

I've been 50 on my Champ for a coupla months now, and I'm still finishing off some traits.

They are all either 7 or 8 now, and the last couple (Trolls in Sarnur and salamanders in Evendim) are gonna be 8 by the weekend I hope.

I do them when the mobs are grey if possible. Faster that way.

I might try doing them as I go with my Guardian....

For me it all depends on what the trait is. I have plenty of "lowbie" traits that still are not done, but thats because I know I will never equip them. Since they dont give me any reward, I have no incentive to do them.

I do them after I completely clear a zone of quests (working on the bree area now, after completely clearing Ered Luin).

Granted, sometimes I get bored and go elsewhere, but so far, it's kept me busy!! And un-leveled! :)

I should qualify that with saying that I've nearly completed all the traits that I use.

I didn't mean that Ive nearly done all the traits.

That would be rather pointless. Smiley: tongue

I don't really go out my way to do traits now, yes it s nice to do a trait and if i'm near done with one i will finish it but I usually don't do them. I'm saving them up until i'm 50 with nothing to do.

I've been doing most of them while in a zone. Im that guy that has to do everything in one area before he moves on. I also have this compulsive need to gather everything I see, worthless or not.

yeah, I have the exact same thing. It really sucks in some games, and holds me back a lot, but darn it, I paid for this game, and I'm going to do every little thing it contains!

I think it is a testament to the way the game is designed that I have fun cleaning up the leftover deeds in a zone, rather then feeling the need to just get it done and go where the leveling is.

To me, a compulsive non-leveler, it truly makes the game much more enjoyable.

I even started doing the low level quests after I got the deed for completing enough of the quests.

That's my favorite way of doing them too.

As for not completing traits you're sure you'll never use; I'm doing ones I don't expect to equip because now I'm trying to tweak around my stats and this gives me more options. Well, I'm compulsive too.

Get them well underway by first getting the quests in an area. Keep getting new quests as they become available. You'll end up with a chunk of the required kills already well underway before you have to mob grind. Going back and grinding trait deeds on grey mobs isn't all that much fun.
