Ok, so I've played this game for about a week or so. I'm level 26 elementalist as of today. For a free game it's not bad. The graphics aren't horrific 2d, actually they are very pretty. The design is kind of anime/fantasy mixed. The game is based in the world of Chantra the main drawing point is the chance to actually rule the In-Game world and receive certain benifits. It's got a good multi-national population. Special events for holidays and beautiful cities keep this game interesting and amusing. It's got PvP and it is part-time gamer friendly. You don't need hours and hours to drop in this game every day to move ahead.
The player market isn't over or under inflated. It is easy to navigate and always has something you are going to want. There is a game market that you can buy special things for the game in, but that does cost real world money. It supplies you with special potions and keys to open special treasure boxes.
The quest system is fun and easy to figure out. The quest system helps guide you to the mobs you should be fighting at your level and guides you to higher level areas and leads you across the continents. It teaches you how to use the crafting system and leads you to the different NPCs that will guide you thru class and crafting training.
There are three servers you can choose from and three races, Human, Orc and Moon Elf. Two servers with high population and one with medium population play host to numerous guilds and a very friendly helpful player base. Server restarts occur usually every day about 6am CST(US). It usually takes less than 5 minutes for you to be able to download the update and get back into the game. There are a few graphic glitches you will find, but usually doing an emote like /charge will fix them. Though I do have to say I find it amusing watching just a head, weapon, or single piece of armor floating around. Every once in a while you’ll find a small splotch of land that you have to travel around instead of walking across even if you can’t see a reason for it.
Archlord’s PvP is based on Guild vs Guild rumbles in the major cities’ arenas. These can accommodate hundreds of players in a real time battle. Strategy and hard work can make you the best guild out there. PvP is not demanded from the gamer, if you’d rather explore the many beautiful sites of Chantra then not doing PvP is not going to keep you from the far reaches of the world.
If you are looking for a game to spend a little bit of time in and you don’t really want to keep feeding your hard earned money to those big gaming corporations, then Archlord could be for you. I hope to see you in game! I’ll be the Moon Elf elementalist AOE’ing everything in sight.
