Hello.

Just returned to SWG to have another look.

Just download the 2 seperate files and followed the instructions to start the 14 day free trial. Put the 2 files "SWG14DayTrial.exe" and "data3.cab" into a seperate folder and ran the .EXE after nearly installing say 95% a window appears saying

Please insert disk 0 that contains "data4.cab"

And guess what i dont have a data4.cab file... the extracting EXE only made data1 data2 cab files, the second download was data3.cab, so where is this data4.cab?

Any help .... i cant seem to contact SOE for help. Ive made an account to access the SWG forums but cant post only read.

This is very frustrating.

Thanks in advance

Jinx

I need specifics....OS, security programs if any, any spyware programs, ammount of memory, processor speed...then I can have a better answer for you. If you are using Vista....try right clicking over the file and selecting "Run as Admin" if you don't....it will have a hard time reading all the files.

Ok

OS = Vista 64bit home (with all latest updats)
Virus Scanners = Avast (disabled when playing games)
Memory = 4 gig running @ 800mhz
Processor = Intel Duo 6400 @ 3.04 gigs with a 390 FSB and 8 X multiplier
MB = Intel D975XBX2 Extreme Series with latest BIOS and Drivers
GC = ATI 2900HD (lates CCC and Drivers)

AS for the Run as Admin this is not needed if you disable the UAC which is the user account control , belive me Punkbuster want to roam around your PC alot more that SWG ever will.

Could some1 even make a post in the SWG Forums and ASK if the Download even works? because the more i look at it, the more it seems this data4.cab is missing.

I realy look forward to your reply Azrielis.... now you have all this information at your finger tips to tell me what the problem is ..

Thanks in advance

Jinx out

Relax dude.....since you are finished getting your E-wood on....look at it with an analytical mind....I don't think it's your hardware....I was more concerned with software. I have downloaded the software...tomorrow I intend on installing it. It power is considerably less then the gaming rig you are using, and bonus....it's Vista. So hear you and was already checking the download....but asking for all the information is how can find out whats might be happening. The hostility is un-nessisary....I wasn't inferring the that your electronic erection was en der flacid fallen....just there are things that prevent programs from installing on a protected computer.

either way...I will try to install it on my computer to see

That what the directions say....Download the Data3.cab in a folder and then download the installation file. It says it on the site, but that doesn't change my plans today...time to install, but I will say this. The first time I downloaded the Data3.cab.....it was much smaller than the one I downloaded to this computer. So with that being said....there might have been something to the Cab file being missing. But again...we'll find out in a little while.

P.S. So I will be installing it on 2 PC's....Laptop and "My" gaming rig running XP. My baby is a bit more sensitive than the laptop....being a OCed, water cooled, AMD dual core....I'll save you the stats...ooooo....gonna get my quad chip in about a month....can't wait.

Why is it that these sort usually seem to come out during school vacation times. Could there be a link there?

Anachronous I would suggest you go do whatever it is you do somewhere else.

I'va had to redownload the file twice now. The download kept on crashing. Make sure that you have complete files when you start the install. Both download should be about 2 gig. Oh Yea....I have yet to install it becaues of it.

So goes the log on the trial ver......you know...they might wanna combine the downloads into a single download...this is getting rediculous. I have a 16 mb download connection and it still taking 6 to 8 hrs to download..WTF?

The trial...it took some time to download both files. I got installed on my gaming rig no problems. Started 2 accounts....logged in with my reg account. It works fine.....No issues with not finding any Cab files, but that one is XP. My laptop is Vista and with all the time consumed downloading, installation and running the station twice....sue me....I'm sadistic:P I haven't had time to install it....so I will try Vista in the next couple of days. So the result of this experiment...when you have the whole file with XP no problems.

I had the same issue as you did with Vista. looking for disk 0 for Data4.cab

It may be an issue with Vista and this incantation of the trial. Has anyone else attempted to install this on Vista?

This may sound dumb, and absolutely no offense intended, but did you try running the program in xp compatibility mode. I have Vista (sucks) and tried for several days to get the trial to update and run, I believe it was the SWG Dev forum that suggested doing this as well as running it as admin. I'm not into all the tech mumbo-jumbo, but this worked for me.

You could try running it in compatibility mode like previously stated. Some programs were designed on the XP platform and don't run quite right on Vista.

I had the same bloody problem and I'm not using stinking Vista, but WinXp Pro. I found this data4.cab inside my Mozilla Firefox folder in Program Files though I saved the two trial files on another folder. It (data4.cab) stated its creation and access dates were about the same time I started installing the trial, but its modification date dated back from January; it was 91,3 MB big. I ran the trial.exe from inside Mozilla Firefox, so this data4.cab might have been inside the trial.exe and might have been decompressed inside the Mozilla folder. Oh, and my data3.cab wouldn't be read by winRar, stating that it might have been damaged. In the end, the installation process concluded shortly, I used my SOE data from when I tried (the boring) Matrix Online to access the game/trial and then it offered me to get a trial. Not so intuitive but at least it gave me a heads up of when the updating process would end (and its duration, of course).
