DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NO INTENTION OF SELLING MY ACCOUNT

A thought struck me recently: if this game really takes off and continues to be a popular game in the next few years, wouldn't accounts that have been paid for life be extremely valuable in RL dollars? Especially one that had a lot of work put into lvling characters?

Has this been an issue at all? It makes me wonder if Turbine thought about that when they were offering lifetime accounts.

Two edged sword there...

What loyal founder and lifetime account holder would ever sell his/her account?

Assuming that someone had the faith in Turbine to plunk down the 200 beans in the first place, what would bring them to a point where they wanted to bail?

And beyond that, who's going to pay big money for a lifetime account knowing they could be banned if/when the ruse was discovered? I sure wouldn't!

Both of you actually have some valid points... On the one hand an account you wouldn't have to pay a monthly fee on could be worth more to RMT. However, as OBD said most founder members likely aren't as apt to selling their account.

I'd imagine the majority of people who sell accounts either got bored with the game, or can't afford the monthly fee or something similar. Granted the first can still happen with a lifetime account, but why not just go play another game for a little to regenerate your interest in the game you have a lifetime account in? Not to mention the whole thing with buying a lifetime account in the first place shows you have some faith in the game, or had.

I suppose someone who has just lost all faith the game, lifetime or not, would try to sell their account... but in that case they aren't exactly loyal anymore lol.
